Vents open or closed on hot days

I read another post which got me thinking. I ALWAYS have my bath vent open. I have vent covers, so there's never a problem with weather. In this other post, it was mentioned how much heat was entering in through the vent, and it got me thinking.

Do you leave any vents open on a hot day, and does closing them have a significant impact on the cooling of your camper? I have a BHLT 5th with 2 13,500 A/C's so cooling isn't an issue in any weather, but I am wondering if I could get it even colder by closing the vent.

We left the bath vent open all the time with our X23B, I figured it cut down on condensation. I was doing the same thing in the 351 until I was in the bathroom and wondering where all the water drops on the floor were coming from. Well, water falls DOWN so I looked UP. There was lots on condensation following the A/C ducting running above the bath ceiling and even more around the A/C vent in there. I was pondering this when it hit me how much warm (humid) air was pouring in thru the open vent. In hot weather it is now closed when the A/C is running. I think it helps the general cooling too.

We only open it when taking the kids to the pool or when showering. The one in the kitchen area may be turned on occasionally to let the rising hot air out.

I put covers on my vents a few months ago and they have been open ever since.

Now that we have a cover, typically they are always open.

This would be a good polling question. hint hint moderators.

I'm getting the same thing and I used to keep the vents closed before the vent covers. After I put the vent covers on, I kept them open. I think that I am going to change my ways a bit!

Maybe I'm misreading or reading into this too much but if my AC is on I close the vents except in the bathroom while showering. If the trailer is parked at home or at a camp site without electric I just open them to allow air in.

The one in the living room is open but we shove that square pillow thingy in it when we set up. Keeps the light glare off the TV. I always keep the bathroom one open but have noticed water on the ceiling near the vent so may try closing it in humid weather and see if it changes..

+1 and I have a insullation pillow for the BH vent which helps keep heat out. Vent open = humidity and heat in.

I installed the smoked Max Air II vent covers which cuts the glare down to nothing and I haven't noticed any water around any of the vents or the ceiling. Just curious given we have the same unit.

Do the math. Hot humid weather = A/C running to keep heat and humidity out of the RV. Open vents while running the A/C is about like opening a window when you are running the furnace. Either way you are letting the cold or hot air in from outside which by any account is defeating the purpose of heating or cooling the interior. Showering or cooking, open a vent to eliminate heat / humidity but remember you have to open a vent or window elsewhere if you are running a fan to pull air to the outside.

vent open to varying degrees all the time, unless it's pouring rain or the AC is on. ]I like my fresh air.
