After sending the new pics to the dealer...they're thought is the same. They'll be contacting me as soon as they get word on what Jayco wants to do. They've seen 3 others with the side wall cracking and all 3 went back to the plant...so I guess we'll see.
I already have a post on their facebook page stating the previous issue, but I'll wait to see what the dealer comes back with before I post my "flame".
In short...the dealer agrees. Replace both walls for now as the option of unit replacement hasn't been discussed as of yet. That will be discussed on Sept 13th...

If that meeting or the options don't go good...expect a new updated post on their Facebook page. Social Media can be a powerfull thing.

Wow those cracks are ugly. It looks almost like drywall cracks in a house that has settled. I wish you fast resolution to this matter.

As long as the root cause is identified, I wouldn't be afraid of having the wall structures replaced. A couple of years ago I had my entry sidewall, rear wall, and roof structure replaced for a different reason, but I was very pleased with the outcome.

Actually, my RV dealership did the total repair but they had experience (very important) in RV wall replacements. I had the option to send it to back to the factory, but I had a lot of confidence in my RV dealership. It also gave me the opportunity to watch the repair process.

The end result IMO was better than when it came off the production line.

Wow. One of the reasons I lean toward Jayco is its reputation for stepping up and taking care of customers. If it doesn't step up on something like this, then I don't really see that Jayco holds any advantage for me over many other brands.

Well...here's my update. And I'm glad to say its good.

Spoke with the owner and GM at my dealer and the unit is going back to the factory for wall replacement...duh...it's now structural.

Honestly, I don't think they had a choice since this is the second unit they've had that had to go back. so I think some re-engineering is in order.

So maybe...just maybe I have my faith back in Jayco...
I guess we'll see when we get it back...

Thank you all for your comments and concerns...this is one AWESOME site!!!
I will add ideas and such as I see them because well...I seem to be spending alot of time here...

Oh...forgot to add this. Based on Rustic Eagle's (Bob's) comments...I have faith in my dealer as well. They just out right told me...we can't do it and I was happy with that.
I'm pretty sure all will be fine.
(I guess I can update my post on Jayco's "facebook" site...hehe)
Take care guys...and gal's...

Tim

Good news indeed. Perhaps they will fix it this Fall and get you ready to go soon as possible.

Geez, as we are seriously looking at this model, I hope this isn't a common problem with it.

I was wondering if there were any updates on the repair of your unit. We are picking up our 2012 298RES on Saturday so we have a bit more than a passing interest in this topic.

If it has been back to the factory, did they let you know if they found anything specific as to the reason for the failure?
