I have the PWD-50. The surge module got used up according to the company, although I think it might have been bad to begin with as the whole unit is barely a month old. The company was fantastic, texted back and forth over a day, and the new free replacement module came in today and just finished installing. Took all of 5 minutes

I had a good experience when I called them. I was getting a Overcurrent error, even though it was just my AC and converter running. They sent me a new EMS, however I went back to my tried and true PI EMS. Still runs great.

One thing I did not like about my Watchdog, we had the power drop at the campground for a couple seconds due to a thunderstorm. The Watchdog did not go into a 2.5 minute wait and see like the PI one does; so of course my AC stopped and started right back up; tripping the AC breaker.

I see these surge protectors for sale anywhere from $88 up to $350. So which is best, we have a 50amp service with 2 A/C units. Do I also need to install the softstart's to the A/C units also? We are getting ready for a long trip and I know power at campsites is iffy and unreliable at some. Thanks for any input.

I will add that the new replacement module had about twice the small round disks they call MOS. These are the ones that take the hit with a surge. When I asked, he said they are always improving their units.

I like the PI 50amp portable. Yes, it's expensive but worth every penny. SS's aren't a bad idea and easy to install.

I have the PWD 50. I like that I can monitor the amps and voltage on my phone. It lets me also know what is running in each leg of the 50.

JUST SAW THE Hughes Pwd 30-epo reduced to $117 on Amazon supposedly marked down $125 from normal. Looks ok for me, like the bluetooth to phone. Specs seem ok.

Our PI unit still works well, but it's almost ancient so I bought a Watchdog as a backup/replacement for the future. That's a great price now. I bought it when it came down to $171.
