Water heater

We just bought 2018 jayco jay flight SLX 154 bh
Is the water heater gas only?

Congrats on the new camper and welcome to the forum!

Yes, the water heater on that model is gas only. We have the same 6gal, gas-only tank on our camper. Takes about 20-30 minutes to heat the water up once started.

I have a 195rb and mine is LP only.

I recently saw an AC conversion kit that used the drain plug hole to take a heater rod. Some additional work to make it work but looks really handy.

I wouldn't do it except the need to go outside and light the water heater. We don't leave it on all the time while camping.

There was a recent discussion on this subject. Title was electric heating element if you want to look at it.

I am going to do the mod!
