Thanks for the link. I went to their site this morning and poked around and didn't see it. I'll be going by a HF tomorrow, so hopefully they'll have it in stock. Maybe by this time tomorrow I'll be a Happy Camper. Thanks again.

Get a little mechanic's grabber like this one on Amazon, everyone sells similar ones.
X-Long 36" Flex-Cable Pick-Up Tool 4-Finger Claw End Retriever Snake
and reach in, grab it at on end and pull it out.

Thanks for the tip, but I have two of them. I tried using one today, but it takes two hands to operate. I had my wife operate the cable and the claw, but the fingers kept slipping off and I was afraid it would fall to the bottom if I kept poking it. Then I found my old pair of 12” locking hemostats and reached in and locked those suckers to my wayward wand. It isn’t going anywhere now, and tomorrow I will pick up another 12” locking “Pliers” as Harbor Freight calls them. I can only use one hand to maneuver them, so it will be a slow process in working the wand out of the tank. I’ve gotten this far and I am not giving up until I have that stupid wand in my hand!

IT'S OUT!!!
I lost it one week ago today, and after a lot of nasty words, a few prayers, the help and encouragement of many JOF members, my neighbors, and my dear, sweet wife I removed it from the water heater today at 1:50pm MST!
Turns out there was a split in the tube where it went over the nipple on the hose attachment, so it was loose to start with. I don't know how the plastic split, but I highly recommend you inspect yours before using and for good measure put a hose clamp on it.
Now I'm a HAPPY CAMPER once again!

It was your suggestion that saved the day. I went to Harbor Freight this morning and picked up a second pair of "Locking Pliers". With those I could move it 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch, using one eye and one hand to slowing get the end to the opening of the heater element hole. Reached in with a pair of needle-nose pliers and pulled it out! What a relief!
BTW, they were $5.99 at HF, but really terrible quality. I can use them for getting out fish hooks, and not much more.....but, they did get the job done!

If you have good water that does not have any type of calcium or etc.why do you need to flush out your tank. I live in north Florida we have good water , noticed anything in it ..

There were some pretty intense moments, here. You never knew which way the twists in the plot were going to go!

If you HW heater has an anode in it, you will get deposits from it.

Frankly I had just about given up. Everything I tried didn't seem to budge that wand from it's place under the gas heating tube. I tried blowing it out with 130psi air through a small hose inserted into the tank, I tried suction using my shop-vac, blasting it with water through another cleaning wand...nothing worked. Last Monday morning I decided to try filling the tank one last time and then draining it. I reinserted the heating element, closed the drain and filled it up.
I then removed the drain and opened the pressure relief valve to get a good flow of water going. Once the water stops coming out the drain there is still a considerable amount or water in there, so I used a small hose to siphon out the rest. I then removed the heating element. My wife was in charge of supplying me with light, so she shined a flashlight in the drain hole while I peeked into the heating element hole. I had to lean in as far as I could go and was able to only use one eye to see into the tank. Low and behold there it was sitting in front of the heating element hole on the bottom of the tank! I let out a yell...my wife said she thought I had been shocked or something! That's when I grabbed it with my hemostat pliers and the rest is history!
I E-mailed Camco a photo of the wand with the slit in it. I also included the following link from Amazon. If you go down the page half way or so you will see a photo posted by another user of his flushing wand with the same slit in the tube as mine. I told Camco that maybe they should consider a redesign, because I am sure I am not the first one that this has happened to.
https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Rinser-...ct_top?ie=UTF8
It might not cause any damage, but who knows for sure. I just wanted it out of my tank! I had almost no calcium deposits in my tank. I fill it with soft water from the house before every trip, and then drain and refill when we get home if I had used any campground water. That seems to keep it from building up any deposits. My house water heater is electric and it never shows any signs of calcium deposits either.
So, learn from my misadventure and be careful with your wands!

I've got one in the garage, and use it in the fall, just before embalming it for the winter. I never would have thought it would come part like that. First off, thanks for sharing your experience with it. I could feel your frustration all the way over here. Secondly, I'm going to check mine over very carefully, and probably put a mini hose clamp on it, just to be sure I'm not the next one to enjoy the fun of removal. Thirdly, I appreciate the description of what you used to get the hose out. I have a pair of locking forceps, but only 1. I'll be getting another.

Wow! What a story! Best read I've had in a while. Your description and attention to detail was great. Plus, I learned something new. Glad it all worked out for you and you got the hose out of there. I know if it had been me, I would have tried everything to get it out, too. My wife would be so paranoid leaving it in there, lol.
