Water issue
Just purchased travel trailer. Had several hard rains with no problems. However we traveled through rain storm coming home this week. When we went to strip bed... pillows wet next to from wall. Wet spot on bed frame next to front wall. Any ideas what this could be? Is truck throwing water up on front and it is seeping underneath overlap?

Would need to know type/model of trailer to offer a suggestion. Is it a pop-up, hybrid, or hard-side?

We found a like situation with ours a few years ago, while driving at freeway speeds in a heavy rain. I found it to be coming in at the seam between the diamond plate and siding. A tube of clear silicone solved the issue on ours.

You are right, but I was lazy and used what was in the shop. Woulda had to drive a few miles to the store for the Quad Seal.

Silicone on the exterior is the worst thing and will fail as a seal and continuous water intrusion will happen. Have seen many trade-ins coming in destroyed, de-lamination or rotten walls and flooring with aluminum siding.

Mine was not the diamond plate. It was the corner molding that was poorly sealed from the factory. I had to take it apart and let the wood dry for a few days and they reinstalled with the Dicor seal-tite corner tape and then the sealer and trim. These trailers are made very poorly as most already know

What do you recommend using for sealing external joints? My new Jayco has missing and peeling silicone at the roof membrane/back wall joints.

I agree that OSI Quad seal is the way to go for external sealing. Extremely short working time, litterer seconds!
My leak was the front window corner. The rubber seal was so shoddy you could see outside without using the glass. I went around everything with a lots of time and care after that.
The air pressure on the RV when traveling will literally push water upwards into the trailer. Like mice, if there is a way water will go inside.

Quad is totally the way to go! Clean the joint with solvent like mineral spirits, then once it’s all evaporated, apply the caulk. You can use a finger dipped in thinner (nitrile glove optional) to smooth and neaten the bead. Seal will last years longer than straight silicone which is really only good for brand new shower enclosures.

Thanks... I have already sealed. My first experience with the product and so...while not beautiful...it does not stick out. while I Hope there is not a next time... I will be much better if there is.

What would you recommend ! I have the same model. Same problem. Really starting to dislike my Jayco 😡
