On mine there are 2 valves that need to be turned to allow water to come from the tank. One that shuts the tank itself off and one that turns the line off that you use to suck antifreeze from the jugs. Make sure both of the valves are turned the correct way.

Water pump question - need help

I just dewinterized but I can't seem to get any water though my lines using the water pump. The tank is full but a small amount of water splatters out and then nothing. The pump is running full time while the pump switch is on and increases when I turn a faucet on.

Is there something I'm not doing right? Everything works when I'm hooked to a hose but nothing when I use the tank/pump.

As jwstewar said, make sure the valve coming from the tank to the pump is open, and the valve that goes from the pump tot he clear winterizing hose is closed. This is easy to overlook when dewinterizing. Also make sure the water heater is no longer bypassed by turning the proper valves.

I just found both of those and I'm back in business.

Thanks!

This year I'll have to winterize and that will help me remember this crap. :hihi:

One other possibility that I have experienced when pump runs continuously and very little water comes out. The rubber valve inside the pump may look perfectly good, but can be worn out. When I called Shur-Flo about it after taking the pump apart and not seeing anything wrong, they said I needed a new valve, which would be cheaper than a new pump. I was a little skeptical, as the old valve looked good, but ordered a new one anyway. Guess what - the manufacturer knew their stuff - the new valve solved the problem.
