Water tank filling - measuring?
Anyone know of a gauge to put on water fill hose to know how much water is going in tank?
I usually fill till it runs out of overflow.

If you fill at the same place, time is your guage. Time how long to fill a 5 gal bucket, use that time to determine how much you are filling into your holding tanks.

I usually just fill until I see it start trickling from the over flow. You can also judge it by sound. As the tank gets close to full it makes a bit different sound as the air gets displaced. When I hear the noise change I know to start watching the overflow. I refill while setup with a 6 gallon jerry can. I know how many jugs it takes to top the tanks off from looking at the tank monitor. I would check places like northern tool for a meter of some sort. I would be careful to get something that is potable water safe/food grade.

time it or watch for the overflow spirt. Not any more complicated than that. I like to fill 6 - 8 gal before heading out on a road trip so we have water for the trip. Use the 5 gal bucket trick and then run the hose in the fill for the necessary time.

+1 on the time method. Start the water and fill a 5 gal bucket. Then put the hose in the filler and count the number of 5 gal buckets.

I wait for the water to come out of the overflow.

+1. I use this exact method. I have HUGE tanks and I definitely don't want to be hauling all that water. 10 gallons is my standard (2 minutes on my spigot with valve turned 180 degrees) unless we're going somewhere with dubious water supply, then maybe a little more. I always have a couple gallons of Ozarka on board for drinking.

I have never heard of a water meter that you could hook directly to a hose. If I want to fill my water tank just enough to have water during a break or for some emergency need, I simply fill the tank until the monitor says it is one third full. I have never had a problem using this method, and I have always had as much water as I needed.

Buy a flowmeter from McMaster-Carr Supply. They have a wide selection of them and they carry a 3/4" NPT model with an LCD readout. You can buy a couple of 3/4" NPT to garden hose male and female adapters from them also.
