Wax? ALUMINUM Siding - No DIY and ready to hire out

This thread is for those who are ready to hire out! No DIY on this one! 'new' 2014-2017 aluminum siding (not involving oxidation)

Feeling burnt out, and ready to hire out?

Soooo,
-what wash/wax do folks want on their new 2016+ aluminum siding?
-what do wish for your roof cleaning?

"Been there dun it" veterans?? What advice do you have to offer for those hiring out?

You will find a slew of people, small and large, local and area wide who will be glad to take your money. The best referrals are from someone you know who is satisfied.

We're still on the road after picking up the new tt. We really thought we'd be able to wash then get that initial wax layer on it ourselves. Most campgrounds do not want you washing your rv.

Checking as we've gone from state to state, the least expensive for a hand wash/wax is $200 (for $40 bucks more, wash and wax the truck as well). We are currently in Nevada.

This guy says he will hand wax (Carnuba), and then 'high speed buff' it.

-is Canuba wax a good one now-a-days to use?
-is 'high speed buffing' over-kill? Will that screw up a new aluminum siding?

They come thru cg's we stay in at resorts and do washing and waxing by reservation. Usually $200-300 range for wash and wax.

I still want a reference from someone I know first.

I live in the Midwest and have found there are numbers of "workers" that want to remain off the "radar screen", work for cash, work very hard, and do excellent work. I get my 30' class A coach waxed every spring for a c-note, I supply the wax, towels and ladder. Se habla espanol.

What wax do you supply to your guy?

We received some good reviews from others in our current c/g regarding the guy we think we may go with. él habla bien Inglés

Owners Manual doesn't show what wax is expected to be used on the 2016's. In 2010, Jayco indicated that Carnuba was ok for our new aluminum sided tt.

Unfortunately, we have to let this guy know now when Jayco is closed for the weekend. We head out Tuesday morning. We don't want to commit for him to wash/wax on Monday only to cancel because we finally were able to contact Jayco.

I know.... timing sucks. We usually plan in advance and should have asked these questions before we took delivery

I would use your judgment, not mine but I don't think aluminum sided campers have changed much in six years.

I don't know what Jayco recommends, I use McGuiars, an excellent automotive, liquid, "cleaner wax". Removes oxidation and leaves a nice shine in one application step. I suspect any quality automotive cleaner / wax product will work - either painted aluminum or hard side.

"Carnuba wax" is a type of wax not a brand. Carnuba is a high quality type of wax that I would have no issue with.

When I DYI I prefer synthetic liquid wax, and typically use Meguires NXT2.0.

High speed buffing isn't something I have done on my TT. I did previously on our sail boat. I think high speed buffing is easier for the guy working vs hand buffing. I wouldn't be concerned about him using a buffer on my alum sided TT.

Wax

I would use a quality polymer based polish. The finish should last much longer than a carnuba wax based product, Pure carnuba will usually vary bin color from brown to yellow and must be buffed to shine. The polymers in a quality polis will be "shiney" when created in the lab and do not require buffing. Another plus for the synthetic polish is polymers do not bead water well, they tend to "sheet" water from the surface. Wax must bead water and when water beads on a surface there is a much greater chance of water spotting. Hope this helps, Dave.

When I had our aluminum sides trailer, I used TR3. Got it at Orilleys. Worked awesome easy on and off. Was told by a body shop guy that that's what they used on all vehicles. Leaves a nice long lasting hard shell on finish when cured.

Well I am going to try rejex as soon as I get it for mine... supposed to be easy on and easy off and you try to put it on where it can cure 24 hours before rain but once cured it is supposed to last for a year which works for me

I remember that scene but they make it look easier than it was on my 39 footer moving the ladder every 5 feet

A friend once told me "washing and waxing my 5er is equivalent to deicing a 747".

Only thing I "wouldn't" recommend is high speed buffing. You can take the paint right off of the aluminum, and there ain't much paint. That's mostly a issue with compounds, but can happen waxing too. I'd save that for if it gets real bad years down the road. Wax, I use Meguiars or Mary Moppins Advantage.
