Weird SaniCon Problem

So we’re sitting inside and begin to hear an odd sound, like a pump running. Sounds like it’s the fridge but it wasn’t. Went outside to find the SaniCon pump was running and getting louder. Haven’t used the system for a couple months. Back inside to get the door key and by the time I opened the SaniCon door, the pump had stopped. The pump housing was warm. The switch was off - how was the pump running?

Back inside to look for fuse - nothing in the panel references the SaniCon system but no blown fuses.

SaniCon won’t start via the switch. Pulled the switch and Checking continuity, it appears to be fine.

Power to the switch check ok but The switch doesn’t light up when activated

Adding to the mystery, The WH switch on the inside panel won’t illuminate when switched on but WH is working.

I’ll pull and bench check the pump but still stumped how/why it started. Anyone know where it pulls power from?

That pump has a thermal protection feature, so it’s probably fine just needs to cool off. But it does sound like you have a bad switch. Can’t think on any reason a pump would just start unless the switch failed and fused in the on position.

The switch I believe is actually adding continuity to the neutral. The tie in for power is an add-on to the top of the converter, you have to pull the panel from the mounting location. At least that is what I have for my 2017 RKS. 40 amp I think?

The lighted rocker switches are junk. Toooo many time I have turned the WH or the FW pump on and the light did not work. The switch works just the light is the crappy part. Or, after a couple of years the light just quits. JUNK!

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I’ll add a couple switches to my spares inventory.

When the lighted switch in my previous travel trailer went I ordered a few of them and also replaced the non lighted switches like the ones for the outside awning lights the scare light etc. I never knew if they were on or off when I went to bed. now I know if they were left on and I can shut them off

Thanks for mentioning the thermal protection Nathan, that makes sense.
Thanks for pointing me toward a possible location for a fuse Al - the hunt continues

A call to the dealer and a replacement switch is on the way. Really hoping it’s the solution so I can cycle some pink juice thru the pump before it gets much colder out.

John, I really like that mod.........where did you find the third wire for the light on the switch?

I believe the 3rd wire's just a ground on lighted switches. All you have to do is find a ground point, or wire.

You can just tap onto any ground wire in the control panel and use it on all the switches

Thanks, that’s a nice bit of info for a DIY’r that’s not an electrician.
