Well I certainly felt silly!

Well I have another“can’t believe I did that” to add to my list. Thought I would share just in case anyone else using a TPMS has had the same problem.

I was getting ready for a trip next week buy checking my TT tire pressure this morning. I have a TPMS on my TT and since I don’t have metal valve stems, I have to remove the sensors to add air. I took the first one off and the valve stem was leaking. Thought to myself, these sensors are trashing my valve stems. This is like the third one.

Went to my truck and got my valve stem tool and another valve stem. When I put the too in to remove the valve stem, I found it was loose. That was about the time the light bulb went off. The sensor has a slot that engages the top of the valve stem and when I backed it off, it loosened the valve stem, this the leak.

I must say I am improving. It only took me three times to catch this. All I had to do was tighten the valve stem. So....... if you have this type of TPMS sensor, you might want to keep a valve stem tool in the tool kit.

What brand? Seems like a strange design
