West coast to East in Feb.

Wife wants to take February off and is planning a trip from here (Huntington Beach CA) to N.Florida...then to S.Carolina with stops to visit friends in Tenn. in between. I'm nervous about travelling in Feb. Any input appreciated. We will be towing our Eagle 319 MLOK.

Not much to worry about... Stay on I-10 going across. You might want to watch for the thunderstorms and weather systems when you head north of 10, but come back down to 10 as snow/ice is rare.

Do you plan to make an interesting trip across the country or bee-line it to Florida? I10 is good, I40 is most likely good, just watch the weather.

For the past 4 years I have driven from Reno to northern Maine in April and back in October. Mostly on I40 as I80 can be treacherous, especially through Wyoming.

As already suggested stay South on I10. Do the same on trip back to West coast. Will be longer going back to West coast but you will have greater piece of mind and more enjoyable trip.

Plan your fuel stops wisely. You'd be surprised how difficult it can be in some areas to refuel bigger rigs. Stay on the mains and you should be fine.

That sound like it's going to be an awesome trip, the DW and I are traveling from WA to NC in late March hoping to be in NC by the first of April.
