What Are Your Storage Costs

We have recently upgraded to a larger HTT and will no longer be able to keep it in our driveway. Up to now, I've been paying nothing for parking our pup in the driveway for the summer, and at my mom's country place for the winter.

I have found a spot for what I think is a fairly reasonable $3/linear foot ($60 a month for a 20ft TT). This facility is fairly rural, about 15-20 minutes from my house. I would have liked to find something a bit closer in, but all the urban lots I checked had waiting lists.

The facility has fenced secured access with cameras. There is power and water access on site (not at the TT parking spot though).

At some point I may decide that adding $60/month to my mortgage may make it a better deal to just move to a house with a decent side yard for parking. Kids are grown and flying the coop (well at least to college for now), I might even consider downsizing the home to keep them out.

I am curious about what others pay in other areas of the continent? What is included in your costs and how convenient is your location?

We're paying $39/month in a gated facility.

I would expect storage costs to very depending on the area.

The closer you get to home the higher the cost will be. 20 miles out we pay $100.00 a year..in town it is $100.00 a month.. I say we as people in in my area.. I live in mine over 200 days a year and when at home back it up my driveway to the back yard.

55/month for a nice pull through just outside suburban area NW Atlanta, GA. I had a back in for a bit but wouldn't get one again as without cameras you need someone there to be safe. Using a pull through I can drop family off at the house on those late returns and go take care of the trailer on my own.

We have some close friends that are 21 miles from our S&B home. They have a nice home in a community that allows RV's to be parked on the property. They have a good size fenced/gated back yard that includes a horse shoe driveway where they installed water/30amp for 5 rigs.

When we are at our home in Reno we pay $50mo for only the times we store.

Good for us.

I'm just outside Toronto, Ontario and I pay 56.50 (inc. GST) for storage about 15 mins from my home. Gated access and cameras. To get storage closer to the house was going to cost $75 - 100 in town. Figured an extra 10 min drive wasn't going to bother me. The town does allow driveway parking between May and October but its easier to put into storage for me than to shuffle around driveway parking spaces for the summer.

So far my favorite storage place - $84 a month 5 min from my house. Gated, 24hr access (very important), dump site (also very important), water, cameras, onsite security - 40ft space.

Second worse - Had a place for my boat at a friend of a friend for $50 a month - got broken into and stereo was stolen.

Absolute worst - Also had my boat at Public Storage for a year or so. Raised the rates about every quarter. Left when price got to $135 a month for partial covered 30ft spot with no electric, water or dump station - no 24hr access made it ridiculously over priced.

Storage in the Baltimore/Washington DC area is ridiculous... you can easily pay close to your RV payment - from $150-300/month. We were fortunate to get a spot at our local Volunteer Fire Department for $700/year - best of all, the money goes to help them with their costs. It isn't as secure as others, but we have had no issues - they are on site 24/7 and watch things pretty closely.

Mine used to be $1.50 per day and I only had to pay for the days I stored it there. Same place decided to go to $45/month no matter how many days you store. It is gated and only 5 minutes from my house. Pretty lucky I guess. Oh, I also have a storage unit there and he only allows trailer storage for his current storage customers.

X2, although I paid a little more for a 20 X41 foot shed. Electric and water on site. Great to be able to keep it plugged in to power. Plenty of cameras on property also.

Storage here costs me $30.00 bucks per month, 2 miles down the road from the house. Not bad given we are on the lake and a provincial park is just a mile away.

$126/ month at a Public Storage 30 min from our house in SoCal. 30 ft spot uncovered. Gated and video surveillance. No dump or water. Had it for a whole month right after we bought it at a former Air Force Base that was being leased from the city for rv storage for same rate, pull through, dump, Gated, guarded 15 min closer. They lost lease and sent 2000 rv's scrambling. There is not a spot to be found any closer to my home for less than $300/mo right now. It's absolutely ridiculous.
