What Elese To Add To New Trailer?

We're going to be placing a deposit down on a 2013 26RLS as soon as the paper work on the x17z we are selling is finished. The year and a half that we've been camping has taught us a lot so we are going into this new purchase with a completely different mindset of things we want/need.

The 26RLS we are looking at is fully loaded. The only option it doesn't have is the power stab jacks. It's got the customer value package with the 15K AC dual 30# tanks with covers, bath sky light, rear bike carrier, power tongue jack, upgraded fridge W/ wood paneling, aluminum rims, upgraded mattress, outdoor grill, power awning, roof ladder, enclosed underbelly and upgraded insulation in the slides. Like I said, everything but the power stab jacks.

We're looking for other little additions that we can add. The dealer threw in 2 MaxxAir vent covers. We purchased those screen door openers but didn't get a chance to install them on the old trailer so we are going to see if they can just do it. We also have a 19" flat screen TV with built in DVD that we'd like to put in the bedroom so we are going to see about having them do that to. We also have a stove cover too.

What other little additions can you think of? We already have the leveling blocks and wheel chocks.

x-chocks for extra stabilization. Is the bike rack mounted to the bumper or frame of the TT? We want a bike rack for our new 28DSBH, but had to have a welder strengthen our x23J bumper to carry the bikes. Looking for a better option. I did see a post recently where the welder welded a hitch right to the frame of the TT and had nothing to do with the bumper.

It's a factory option that is on the frame. It's a sliding tray that pulls out from the back of the TT.

I like that option... I wish the white hawk had something like that. What do you do with the bikes in your white hawk?

We've only taken the White Hawk out once so far, but I'd assume we'd toss them in the bed. Perhaps getting a receiver welded on the rear frame. Who knows. lol

Cool, well good luck with your new campers, we don't get ours till March/April. I think I'm going to go to the welder when we get it to come up with something. I know you've only been out once, but how do you like it so far? My wife and I lived in Manorville for a year. Thinking of visiting with the trailer for a trip to the wineries. Haven't been there since 2003. Ever taken the trailer on the ferry?

It's been great so far. We took it out to Smith Point the weekend Sandy hit so we got evacuated a little early. The next few weeks it sat in my driveway and the whole family would stop by here and there and we'd go inside. Lots of room and no complaints.

In all honesty, I do think the 28BHBE would have given the 28DSBH a VERY strong run for the money. The bunk area in more open and you have a built in ladder to reach the top bunk.

No, no ferries yet. This past summer was out first year with a camper so we just stayed local and are staying local this summer as well. The summer of 2014 should hopefully get us off the island finally with a trip to either Strawberry Park or Lake George. The ferries might be an option then.

Did you happen to get a Fantastic Fan? Our old rv had one and really miss it. Your new rig sounds nice!

I honestly don't know. I know our hybrid has a cheap little fan in the bathroom vent and I do remember seeing a much larger van in the bath vent of this unit. How would I know?

Idk cm11599ps. It sounds like you have it all. If you're selling all the necessary equipment with the x17z (hoses & such) then you'll have to replace all that. It's a very nice model.

What Elese To Add To New Trailer?

When we bought our 28u, the trailer came with a foam mattress. Upgrading to a mattress with springs in it was our first upgrade. Shortly after that we added a 3inch memory foam to make the new mattress usable. Our next upgrade will be a fantastic fan for the bedroom. Enjoy the summer.

The Fantastic Fan has much larger fan blades than the small (about 5") blades on the standard fan. It usually has 3 speeds and is very quiet and sounds like "quality" . Someone else mentioned changing out the mattress. That too is a very good idea. We have an i-comfort memory foam mattress and its great but if you like hard mattresses it probably would not be the best fit.

On our 2011 28U we added the Fantastic fan in the bedroom, put firmer foam into dinette cushion seats, Battery LED lights into both sides of the storage ahtches, cross bar on screen door, wifi booster for laptop, command strips for mounting pictures, battery drill for stabilizers, Roto-Chocks (they are great).

There are two roof vents on the 26RLS. The bathroom one does have a large fan in the opening. The vent in the back of the trailer is just a vent I believe. I don't think it has any kind of fan.

Is it possible to easily install a fan in this vent? Is there already an outlet there that you could plug the fan in to?

We bought a similar unit a couple of years ago. We ditched the cheap uncomfortable chairs and bought $275 recliners (on sale) at LZ boy. You have to be careful to get ones small enough to fit the space. We also bought a 4" memory foam mattress topper. Both were well worth the money.

Our 2011 Silverado has a Ranch Hand replacement front end with a receiver hitch, so we'll likely put the bikes on the front of the truck with a Thule 2" bike rack.

If you plan to camp south of the masson/dixion line, get a second ac installed.

We ordered our 26RLS with the 15K A/C unit. It worked wonderful last summer in Dodge City, KS at 113 degree weather.

We had the dealer install a second water pump switch in the bathroom so you can use the facilities without having to open both doors to turn on the pump at the command center while the slide out is in the travel position. The 26RLS you can't access the kitchen from the bedroom door. We do quite a bit of cross country travel so this has been a great addition.
We also had them add a wall switch for the fan in the bathroom.

Enjoy your new TT. I know we have enjoyed ours.
