What is it?

Lots of diverse people here with different back grounds and hobbies. Camping at Caballo Lake, NM and found this on a walk. I think its a fossil of some type but not sure where to start. Any ideas?

The last remain link to the whereabouts of the lost Dutchman's mine.

I think you should show it to someone that would know. The only old fossils I see fit a '64 chevy or I'm married too.

Some hi-res pictures sent to the local university's geology or paleontology department or a museum might shed some light.

GREAT IDEA! I'll see if UNM can do it for me. Have a granddaughter in collage there so she might have an inside.

Pictures sent to a paleontologist at a CC last night and curator of a dinosaur museum, hoping one will answer. Local rock collectors are checking for and answer also.

Not to be crude, but it reminds me of Joe Dirt's discussion with Meteor Bert about Boeing Bombs.
