I pull my 195RB, about 3,500 lbs. with my Jeep Grand Cherokee L with a 357 V8. Prior I had a Grand Cherokee with the 3 liter V6. The V6 pulled the trailer ok but lacked acceleration at on ramps and passing and found Colorado passes a big chore.
The V8 pulls with more ease and plenty of power. Unfortunately, the V8 is no longer available from Jeep ( thanks Biden). I don't know how well the new straight 6 with turbo will do but it has much better specs than the old V6 Jeep used.

It's in my signature...

A 2017 4wd Crewmax 5.7iforce. My second Tundra, and one of the last 5.7 V-8's from Toyota. Perfect tow vehicle for our trailer.

A 2017 Starcraft Autumn Ridge, GVWR 7700 pounds. Never been back to the dealer since new, minor stuff fixed by me. Have over 21,000 miles on the trailer. A super setup, truck pulls it effortlessly, a consistent 9.5-12mpg on 87 Octane.

And here I thought it was just my bad luck. I park far away from everything yet I had a shopping cart some lazy person couldn't return blow into my TV's rear door, 3" dent....

2020 Duramax 3500 SRW, 10 speed Allison, 3.42 12" ring gear, towing about 13K of 5er. Plenty of power, no screaming gas engine going up grades, exhaust brake is nice to have descending. Stable towing. Very quiet for a diesel, and doesn't smell like one. Comfortable seating for those long travel days. Empty MPG averages 21 (but I drive like a old man). Added a 40 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed, as finding easily accessible fueling can be a PITA when towing.
Downsides. Drinks DEF when towing. Climbs mountains like a goat, but you will pay in MPG. Averages 8- 9 mpg towing depending on speed and wind. More frequent fuel filter changes than a gasser, and more expensive oil changes. Rides very stiff loaded. And the "Shiny truck appears to be a magnet for idiots in parking lots." issue.

I've got the opposite problem with mine. It's so bad that when I park in the lot, people go out of their way to leave extra space around me. It must be the sound of crumbling rust that scares them off .....lol

So here's mine. 2007 Ram 2500 5.9l Cummins tied to a G56 6-speed. Purchased it new in May of 2007. Lots and lots of hard living, battle scars and rust. RV is a 22BHM JayFeather. 5500 lbs and right on 800 lbs tongue weight all tied together using an Andersen WD hitch system.

We also have a 2018 F150 3.5l Ecoboost with the Max Tow package (now my wife's truck) that we tow with regularly. It does very well with our little Feather and we often use it for our longer trips.

2023 F350 Lariat CCLB, 7.3, 4.3
2021 33RBTS
Best towing SD I have owned so far (2000 F250 Lariat CCSB, 6.8, 3.73, 2016 F350 Lariat CCSB, 6.2, 4.3). Also the most comfortable. Only hope the electronics are as reliable as the mechanical. The 2016 towed the 33RBTS without any issues but the 2023 is noticeable better.

Do you remember what gear and speed you ran with the 6.2? I'm contemplating changing mine to 4.30.

Sweet spot was about 2500-2700 rpm in 5th gear, about 67 mph. Rarely locked out 6th except for excessive shifting depending on wind and highway conditions. Towed in 6th quite often. Had Cooper AT3’s which may have had a slightly larger OD compared to stock, but not by much. Had AirLift 5000 airbags, but no other performance modifications.
When I test drove a 2016 before I ordered mine, I felt the rpm’s were too low on the vehicle I test drove with 3.73 rear end. Just my opinion.

Thanks, I'm running in 4th around 2900. 20" wheels and 3.77 gears isn't the best combo for a 6.2L.

2024 GMC 3500HD Ultimate Denali Duramax Dually pulling a 2024 Pinnacle 36FBTS. Truck is an 8 foot box and has 3:42 gears and with the 10 speed Allison is a dream to drive.

I pull the same model as Bugzilla46310 with my Ram 6.4 Hemi with 3:73, stock tires 6 speed. I manually pull it down to 4th gear and keep it there. I am generally at 2700 rpm’s running 65 mph on the highway. I can run in 5th but I don’t like all the back and forth shifting. The transmission runs cooler when I keep it in forth.

Obviously we have 2 different trucks but I’m not sure you’re going to see much difference rpm’s by going from 3:73 to 4:30. Sure there should be improved towing on take-off and hills, wind, etc.

I looked into changing mine to 4:30 and was quoted just shy of 5 grand from a reputable shop that I would trust to do that job. To me it wasn’t worth it.

- 2023 F-350 SRW, 6.7L HO Power Stroke Diesel
- 2023 Jayflight 263RBS
- Equal-i-zer 4 point hitch

The truck is overkill for the trailer but, we really load it up. Kayak on an overhead bed rack, fishing gear, firewood, etc.

I just got back from a 450 mile one way trip into the Oquachita Mountains in gale force winds. Only saw 3 other travel trailers the whole way there. Not an issue for this rig.

Oh yeah, since I'm pulling a Jayco, I carry about 250 pounds of tools.

2006 Ford 3/4 ton Super Duty, 6.0 (I know and don't need to hear it) 3.73 gears, Air Lift 5000 lb Bags. Averaging 10 mpg while towing depending on wind and terrain.
Pulling a 2004 Designer 31RLS, weighing about 12,500 loaded for a trip.

2022 Chevy Silverado k1500,6.2 gas( 420 hp ), 10 speed transmission. 2018 Jayco Hummingbird 16mrb. For me this is a great combination, a baby trailer with a truck that has lots of power. Would this setup work for most people? Nope! DW and I are not big people( I’m 5’10” DW is 4’10” ). We use this TT as a motel with wheels and it works great for us.

Yes, I agree I have a 2022 and love it, I was on the fence for a while on getting one but since I have it I wish I would have done it a long time ago.

1: 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 4Cyl Turbo w/ 2022 Jayco Micro Light 171BH

Pros: Torque for days, towed amazingly well. Gas mileage was great.

Cons: With so much torque and 8 speed trans it was very jumpy daily driver. Very wimpy sounding, lol.

2: 2023 Yukon SLT 5.3L V8 w/ 2023 Flagstaff 21DS

Pros: Best Daily driver ever, amazing comfort on trips, plenty of power to tow a 6500 lb trailer.

Cons: limited max tow and tongue (7700 / 770)

Curious what weight distribution hitch do you use and how does it perform with that 28RL?
