What to do with fridges after trip

Thanks everyone. Lots of good ideas. If we had an electric source where we store it, it would be great to have it cold and ready to go, but unfortunately we do not. I looked through all of the literature they gave us when we picked it up and there was a plastic piece that came with the fridge documentation that is used to keep it open. Now I just hope I don't lose it. If I do, there are some great ideas here on this thread though.

I’m sure I’ll get some feedback on my answer.

I’ve always heard to leave the doors closed. Make sure it’s completely dry and stuff newspapers in it or styrofoam coffee cups with charcoal.

If the doors are left open and you live where it’s real hot, the door liners could swell up and the next time you go on your trip the doors won’t completely close. Years ago you could buy just the door liners. Now you have to buy complete doors and they are not cheap.

I have always left the fridge door open on our camp trailers. With the high and low temperature changes we get, I have never had that kind of distortion of the refrigerator plastic. My first TT was a 1998 Coachman.
