What to use Faded gel coat on front cap

Going back and forth. My frontcap is really faded at the top of my FW. Should I use a Meguiar one step compound or Meguiar oxidation remover? Then should I follow that up with polish and wax? I know there are a ton of personal preferences on brands feel free to let me know. Curious what the majority is. It’s a light tan color. I really need to know the process one step compound or oxidation remover the what to follow it up with and what order thanks in advance. And yes it’s pretty faded not just a light fade.

Great question like the answer as well from someone that has done it on the front cap.

What year is your FW? Still under warranty? If so, you need to take pictures and send JAYCO an email with pictures immediately.

Once your Gel-Coat starts to oxidize the only way to stop it is to sand it down to the fiberglass and have it painted.

Search the forum for a LOT of other threads regarding oxidation.

My last 5er had oxidized front cap and used Meguiars PlastX and to clean it and then put coat of wax on it. I had to do this every year but it looked new again.

Make sure you add your VIN number to your email. You may have to try and take pictures at different times during the day (sun angle) to get the best pictures. Send them to service@jayco.com

Good luck, some of the members have had a favorable outcome with JAYCO.

I agree, contact Jayco and see what they say as you really have nothing to lose. Not sure but I think there was a recent thread where Jayco ended up covering a faded cap out of warranty. If not I've had good success with this product.

Jayco repainted our 2018 Eagle front cap that had faded on the dealership lot. It was a hold over. The dealership said that Jayco had used the wrong paint/clearcoat.

Welcome to the club. This is a very common problem with Jayco. Mine faded out badly after 18 months and they repainted it under warranty. I worry that it will happen again so I wax it every few months. Unfortunately all the buffing and polishing you do will make it look a little better but it won't last. Eventually you're going to have to repaint it. Even if you are out of warranty by a few months I'd try to persuade Jayco to at least participate in the repaint.
