In the Spring I will turn the fridge on and turn the pump on and cycle the ice maker until the cubes are no longer pink and then run it through a couple more times for good measure. So far it’s worked for me. If there were a way to get air through the control valve I would do it in a heartbeat but I haven’t figured that out. There’s lots of folks a lot smarter than me out there but I haven’t come across a better way to do it with 100% confidence.

You have to come to the Ice Box of America. Coldest temperature on record in the state is -60oF recorded in Feb 1996. That particular day it was -32oF at my house in the Twin Cities, and the record low is -34oF.
Just 3 hours drive north of me in Old Forge NY, It hit -52 back in 79. Thats why its the snowmobile capital of the east !

The coldest I have ridden in was -28
