Wheels rusting on 14 month old camper. Anyone else see this?

Noticed today that the steel wheels are rusting on my coach after just 14 months. There is some surface rust as well as rust stain marks all over.

Seems a bit premature for rusting like this already. Wonder if this would be covered under the two year warranty?

Yes, just the standard white steel wheels that Jayco uses.

I don't have any rust on mine and this is the beginning of our third season... I don't know if it would be warranty but you could always try...

I have never had a set last without rust for much over a year. I don't think they are dipped and I believe the area between center and outer don't get any paint in between where there is an area for rust to begin.

Yes, that is where all the the rust staining is bleeding from.

in my opinion it seems like you would have a choice between having them blasted and powdercoated which might cost more than the wheels originally or upgrade to aluminum rims ... otherwise even if they are replaced they will do the same thing ... other option is to try to repaint them but it is so hard to get paint in between

My last Jayco, which was a 2008 JayFeather, came with the chrome wheels with the circle holes in them. In 18 months they were rusted all to heck.

I took it in for warranty work and raised it as an issue, and Jayco agreed to replace them with the same wheels...which also would probably have rusted the same way. I asked them how much to upgrade to aluminum wheels, they said $35 each- so I ponied up the $140 for the aluminum wheels. It was well worth it...give it a shot at the dealer. All they can say is no....
