We did two nights at Dinosaur National Monument on some BLM on the CO side. Rolled into Flaming Gorge last night. We are on the beach on the UT side. This place is amazing. Out of the way, but definitely worth the trip.

Rain got in the way of scheduled trips the last couple weekends. But things are looking pretty good for the next week -- sunshine and highs in the 80s -- so we're taking three granddaughters to our favorite COE park at Pomona Lake in Vassar, KS. We'll be arriving on Tuesday and staying for a week.

State Parks Opening for Camping

Just in case you have not been following as closely as my DW and myself, Texas state parks are open once again for camping. Colorado State Parks as well. We have reservations in two weeks in Texas. We also scored a night coming and a night going at Cheyenne Mountain State Park on our way to Glenwood Springs in July. Even though our two stays are one nighters we are excited. Extremely beautiful campground.

In both states they are requesting the following of CDC guidelines. An easy “and safe” price to pay to get back out again.

No where. We had to cancel our reservations at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana for this weekend because we sold our camper on Wednesday and we don’t pick up the new one until next Friday.

Which beach is this? Stateline Cove? Please share!

Exactly. Stateline Cove. Closest town is Manila, UT. You have to set up camp 200 feet from the water. They have a campground down the road next to the marina with water and a dump station.

Just pulled into Angel Fire for the weekend. A little pricey, but nice place for a couple nights.

Oscar Scherer State Park, Florida...

..and it's full of people who are, like us, very happy to see the SPs open again.

This is our nearest park, so we're frequent flyers, and it was nice that the ranger on the gate recognised us...

Last couple days has been at Blue Spruce RV just east of Durango. Great hiking nearby at a NFS campground and 30 mins from Durango.

It's a nice park but it's on the small side and the spots are closer together than we prefer. Tons of trees and only a handful of the sites have sewer. Sites 11, 13 and 14 are the most appealing to us with #11 being the best for our tastes. 4 hiking trails in the park, 2 of which are pretty short at 1/2 mile including the one leading to the waterfall area which is very nice. As far as we could tell all sites have level concrete pads with asphalt drives and all seemed in very good shape. Cell phone service (Verizon) is very good.

Maintenance service is top notch. My EMS picked up a low voltage our first night here on the 50 amp plug. Had to use the 30 amp plug for the night and went to the camp office first thing in the morning. Maintenance guys were at our site within an hour and replaced the 50 amp breakers.

Overall, very pleased with the park and would return provided we could snag one of sites above.

Where are you camping this weekend?

Tonight we’re at a park I didn’t think I’d really like. Lathrop State Park near Walsenburg, CO. It was just convenient. I was wrong. This is a great park. Great hiking. Nice sites. Wish I was here more than one night. Only negatives would be electric only and my site had a bit of slope. I can live with all that though.

Castle Rock county park near Adams Wisconsin. Our site is right on the Wisconsin River. It's only 45 minutes from home and one of our favorite local spots. This will be the first outing with the new to us Jay Feather. Monday - Friday.
