Disappointed on the Guadalupe River

My DW and I attempted to spend a few days with our son on the Guadalupe River in the Hill Country of Texas. Unfortunately the RV Park we booked was far below it website advertisement. The sites had trash from previous campers and the overall upkeep of the park was very poor. Empty beer cans were even left on rocks in the middle of this beautiful river. To top it off, we had a large 5’r pull in next to us and jackknife his rig so the there was only about 6” of air between their awning and our slide. They then put political flags up across their awning that became our only view out our windows.

As you can tell, I am venting a bit here, but wanted to share what this experience reminded me of. Courtesy and thoughts of others can make everyone’s time away so much more enjoyable. Protection of our country’s beautiful resources should always be a priority. Always attempt to check reviews before traveling to a new area.

Fortunately for us as extensive RV’s, this is the first experience we have had over many years of camping. Obviously we will not return to the RV Park.

End of next weekend Mammoth lakes, Ca. For some cooler days, off-road exploring, some dips in the lakes and hot springs all around the area.

This is a lot of the reason we have been setting up everything for off grid dry camping. No need for hook ups and can find your own place, just look at all the free dry campgrounds and open dry camping areas available throughout the states and you will begin to enjoy it much better.

ready to go again

Just got back a few days ago. 1st.- Mammoth Mtn for a few days (not to crowded), then onto South lake Tahoe 5 days, (Lots of people everywhere, trails, lake, etc.) next stop was Carmel by the Sea, (Really nice, a few thunder storms at night, but days were nice) left just as fires were starting. Last stop of the trip Solvang Weather was on the hot side, we were supposed to stop at Hearst/San Simeon but that got canceled on us (covid closure). Over all nice 2 week trip. I am ready for the next adventure.... Just not sure where yet.

We are heading to Rock Cut State Park near Rockford, IL tomorrow afternoon to camp with friends. This is a new park for us, and it looks nice. The NWS is predicting severe weather there tomorrow so hopefully it does not effect us too much. I'm going to be VERY careful with the awning.

Well went last weekend, Not the Lake I wanted to go, but everything else was full.
Tunkwa Lake Near Logan Lake B.C
Windy as normal,
I had to put the trailer bars on the outside rug, to keep it down. the four corner were nailed down.
Boat did not come off of the truck. Not comfortable on the lake by myself, wind comes up very Quickly.
Took Buddy down to Logan Lake and walked around the lake. Nice walk for him getting to old to walk around a big lake.

We will heading to KOA Association Island, Henderson NY. Our site is a back in on the sunset shore side of lake Ontario. Can't wait. Only thing better would have been to get into Canada too.

Arrived yesterday for a two week stay at Mammoth Lakes, CA. A little hazy here from all the fires in the Sierras but still better air quality than the San Joaquin Valley. The drive through Yosemite over Tioga Pass was really smoky due to two fires in the wilderness that are being allowed to burn.

Week after next is SE Arizona. Too many back roads to explore to sit in an RV park all day.

Keuka Lake State Park in the Finger Lakes region of NY. For Labor Day weekend with friends. Weather is supposed to be a little cooler for Friday and Saturday. Perfect Camping Weather. We shouldn't have to turn on the A/C or the heat.

Few shots form the last time we were there, beautiful place. Don't mind the makeshift workstation, I work from home or the road when we travel, this was nice having good view while working.
