White or Black Slide toppers

White or black slide toppers? Other than looks, are there any benefits for choosing one color over another?

Other than the black possibly absorbing heat I would go with whatever looked best with the unit. Don't think the heat would be much of an issue as there's 3-4'' between the slide top and topper, and heat rises.

I ordered black slide toppers since my awning was dark brown. In retrospect, the black toppers aren't going to show dirt/stains/mildew as much as white will.

White is cooler, but mildews faster. The black gets pretty hot, which kills the mildew... we went with black, because it matched the trim and air conditioner shrouds.

We decided on black because it matches the rest of the trim and ac covers. Also it shouldn’t show the dirt like white would. I thought about them absorbing more heat but like was mentioned earlier there is enough space between the topper and the slide top to prevent heat transfer.

Thanks for the input. I was planning on going with black to match better, just wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue with something I didn't think about.

It's funny, my AC and vent covers are white, my trim is white.

My OEM awning is black and my fridge inserts are black, so is the hot water tank door and the trim around the cubby doors, so on my trailer a black topper would be the way to go.

I would generally match whatever colour your awning is.

I doubt that the black would create much of a heat issue. The sun beating directly on your slideout roof can cause your ceiling to feel warm on the inside of the trailer, but with an awning topper you will not feel this, even if it is black. The air space insulates the heat from penetrating the roof of your slideout.

Companion question to OP, adding 2.5 inches to a side enough or will 5 more to a side be too much?

Did you mean to post this in a different thread?

Appreciate that input, spending a tax refund before you get it is fraught with peril. Thanks.
