Who Rotates Trailer Tires

Discount says no.Maybe since they have such a short life span it would not make much difference.Rotated mine so I could get the new spare on.

Never have on any of the various trailers I have owned, dual or single axle. Where the wheels don't turn or have drivetrain (acceleration) forces on them they wear evenly so no real need to swap them around imho, unlike a car or truck. And any unusual wear on a trailer tire typically means you have bigger problems that rotating isn't going to fix.

I never have. But when I got new tires for our htt, Discount Tire said bring it in, and they will rotate them for free. I have not done it yet.

I have to admit, we get a LOT of tire scrapping when backing into our driveway. Hence a lot of tire wear on some tires.

Totally agree. Have never rotated TT tires. If you have uneven tire wear that would necessitate rotating you tires you should be looking at your axle.

I have had different tire wear especially when turning in tight quarters a lot or riding on high crown roads.

Seems like either front or back scrub more than the others in turns and high crowns mean low side wheels take more load. If I spend a lot of time on two lane roads or slow lane in interstate the problem is worse.

I have

I put new Michelin truck tires on my rig, got sick of sitting along side the interstate with blown cheap foreign made tires. I purchased them at Discount Tire and they offer free rotations so I rotate per their suggestion. Cannot hurt and it's free so why not do it?

Weight distribution, how level the trailer is, axle issues, suspension issues, air pressure (or lack of), tire quality, etc are all factors in uneven tire wear, and none of them can be fixed by rotating tires.

The same could be said about my car and truck but for some reason I rotate those tires regularly.
Alignment issues, load distribution, and driving habits aren't cured by rotating tires. We rotate tires so each one of them gets a fair share of the uneven wear.

You could say it, but it doesn't make it 100% equivalent.

In a rear wheel drive car, your front tires turn left and right, the rear doesn't. Your rear tires accelerate, the fronts don't. Different forces, different wear results, even different camber angles. You rotate to balance that out over time.

A trailer tire does two things. It goes forward, and it goes backwards.

But hey, it's your vehicle, rotate away, certainly can't hurt!

I would disagree, when I back into my driveway, I get major tire scrub. Hence my rear TT tires get a lot more wear than my front tires.

I’ve owned 4 trailers, 3 dual axle and 1 single axle, and I’ve never rotated a trailer tire. I’ve never had funny or uneven wear...

I have never rotated mine but I do very little backing on pavement.

They usually age out before they wear out.

Shortly after rotating the tires left to right on our single axle Skylark, I had a complete separation of the tread from the steel belt.
