Who went the farthest to pick up your RV?

I have been seeing people go to the distance to pick up their new (or new to them) RV....

So... I've been wondering who went the farthest to pick up new RV from RV dealership. And do you stay with that dealership for RV issues?

In 2018 - Rhode Island to Louisiana, first time buyer. Drove it back home by myself and have never been back to the dealer.

Where do you go if/when you have issues you can't fix yourself?

Never been an issue. I really haven't had anything major needing fixing. I tend to think of myself as handy and have been able to deal with the minor issues that have cropped up and have no problem tackling bigger issues.

Keep up on preventive maintenance and things should go smoothly.

Enjoy the journey

Only 175 from central Illinois to Joliet Illinois. But took a few days to visit the Amish area near Shipshewana and tour one of the RV plants there to break it in. Intended to stop at dealer on way home for problems. But didn't discover the beak leak in the front window ( 1 inch long by 1/4 wide) until I hit a driving rain and soaked the mattress on a later trip. Just to far to take it in for that so sealed it up myself. (local dealer had no stock, had no idea when he would get the 195RB I wanted and didn't seem to care very much.

Houston area to Orlando, just shy of 1k. Bought our X23B from an internet dealer and picked it up from a brick n stick dealer there. We turned it into a short vacation of sorts and had a great time. Only one warranty issue which was a defective stereo. After a couple of phone calls Jayco sent a replacement directly to me and I installed. I shipped the old one back per their request but forgot to include the shipping receipt so they could refund that cost. Got a call about a week later asking how much it was, receipt was long gone so I said “best I can recall it was about $xx”. The fellow asked if i was satisfied if they cut a check for that amount and send it to me.
Ahh, the good ole days.

3,610 miles (R/T) - Lake Havasu City, Arizona to Pequot Lakes, MN

Bought our 2015 X23B from a private party in August 2020. The road trip was fun. We are planning to revisit the route with our trailer..and taking our time!

Just over 300 miles one way. They had the best deal on the unit we wanted. Since it was used, I wasn't worried about the dealer being close...

For us... 4.1 miles.

We chose a close dealership as we were promised that any CW location would service anything and everything on our Seneca by purchasing the extended warranty. We found they will look at the motorhome in their service facility within 1-15 days after we drop it off for our service appointment that takes 1-9 weeks to get in.

They said that they would fix it and we could pick it up right away - but reality is that they have to order virtually every part needed for the repair from Jayco, wait for weeks for the part to arrive, then they reschedule the rig to get back into the service bay and put the parts in.

Moral of the story? You don't need to buy from the nearby dealership so you can get good warranty service.

900 Miles last August. Spokane, WA to Central CA. Just finished up a rented RV Class C trip.... Drove by the local Appleway RV dealer. Saw our 37TS there. We were just going to tire kick and buy one locally. Found out the local one was under contract and that there were only 3 of that model for sale on the west coast. Made an offer, then flew back 3 weeks later to pick it up after they got it ready.

Our local dealer had to order the one we wanted and we gave him the opportunity to match the price of the unit 400 miles away. They could not get any closer than $2500 more. We declined and took the unit 400 miles away. Our dealer understood our decision and said they would be more than willing to service / warranty the unit if and when needed. 1st year so far not need..

11 miles. Outstanding service and all calls answered. Well worth it. Also gave phone advice when we were in Alaska and had some water heater issue.

A little over 900 miles. We live outside of New Orleans at the moment but ordered our RV from Rick's RV in Joliet Illinois. (Have worked with them before and been very satisfied.) We're moving it to our seasonal site in Wisconsin.

Bought our previous "other brand" trailer 300mi away from home in Lancaster, Oh. In a way it was the biggest mistake I, not we, I, made. It was a total POS. Never do that again! Closest dealer to me that could service it was 1:10hrs away. However, because it was a pos, that led us to our Northpoint we have now. We bought it 100mi away. 2nd closest dealer to us but the only one that had a Northpoint.

1879 miles....we planned a camping trip in Montana and the rv version we wanted was only sold on the West Coast, so we decided to save some towing fuel and pick up the camper at a dealer in Wyoming. It worked out great.
