Why having an RV is like having a baby

The other day another RVer and I were talking and I was telling him some of the things my wife and I had learned about RV-ing since we purchased Harvey the RV back in May.

He said "Well, having an RV is like having a baby. You have to constantly be checking on it."

So that got me to thinking: That would make a good thread discussion:

How is having an RV like having a baby?

You just gave gave me an idea why don't we have a " Camp Nanny" at the camp grounds. Smoker Bill likes to travel and he's real handy, loves to keep busy and i would would hire him for say $100.00 an hour + beer for his machanical experience.

I like the analogy, however my wife claims the different RVs we've had are my "other women", with the amount of time I spend with them.
I'm not sure either of us could wrap our minds around another kid of our own at this point, we are ready for grand kids but we think even that's a ways off.
It's too bad we can't return the RV when it's acting up to the parents--of course perhaps that's my addiction of after having one for a short while and then I'm ready for something different (3 in the last 3 years).

An RV keeps us seniors young and active, and we tread RV's like baby's.......we like to keep them perfect. If we can't find things to do on them we let our imagining get carried away and think of something. I am sure the RV industry can learn from us..............

My wife is definitely jealous of the time I spend on our RV. I do baby her (the trailer I mean) but I just believe in protecting my investment...

Like a baby because you have to regularly empty the poop...

If I started to baby her now after nearly 30 years of marriage she would think I was dying or something!!!

Are you referencing the wife, the baby or both?

The only thing more high maintenance than me was the motorhome we traded after 8 years! Hopefully there is more money to spend on me now that we have a camper.

I'm sorry, I can't see the analogy between an RV and a baby.

You can't love a piece of equipment nearly the same way as your child.

I won't be leaving my kids outside all winter with nothing but a cheap blanket. There ain't no report cards, permission slips or teacher conferences for the RV.

Routine maintenance on a child doesn't include servicing her wheel bearings.

Although I do "baby" my RV quite a bit, I don't think the analogy is quite right. Perhaps more like a "mistress". It doesn't matter how many "trailer chores" I have, my son comes first. I look forward to the times when he can help me in more meaningful ways. He already helps a little, but he's not big, or strong, or coordinated enough (at age 2) to really be of much help other than fetching small stuff for me. But he loves to help.

If something happens to the RV, that's not typically a big deal. It really IS just money. And I'm young enough to make more money (or sell something else if I so choose). As much as I want to sometimes (sarcasm), I'm not going to sell my son!

But if something happens to my son, that's a whole different ball game!

I do like the "poop" comparison though! Sometimes it seems like I'm constantly dealing with poop!
