Why would you do this? WDH bars left attached?

I visited a National Monument in Montana yesterday and saw this parked truck as I was walking back to my vehicle. It's a good thing it wasn't parallel parking.

My wife said if I ever get that lazy she's gone.

Yes it is. I've been by there a few times in my life and never stopped, yesterday we did stop and found it very interesting.

I see that all the time but at campgrounds. Must be a fashion statement!

That's a first.

I've seen folks leave the bars on, but they usually secure them up against the bumper with bungee cords.

Thought that was the restroom building. Stopped there back in July while heading out to central Washington. Probably the most expensive bottle of 16 oz water we ever bought. $3.99 on site. We did save the bottle though, which said Little Big Horn. Store manager was very apologetic about the ridiculous price. At least they had a water refill station to the left of where that truck was parked.

When I had a TT, I did that once or twice when I had no intention of leaving the campground. I'd just fold the bars back parrellel with the bumper. No big deal. Never left the camp ground that way. I suppose it's less pieces to misplace, or maybe they had a fear of someone taking the bars while they were away. Who knows.

In some places (like here) leaving your hitch on when not towing can get you a ticket.

Perhaps he has had the bars stolen before?

I too have seen folks fold the bars against the bumper and secured them with rope or bungee cords. I would think leaving a bar out like that is just begging for trouble.

That looks like a "get off my bumper stick" to keep other vehicles from tailgating you.

But he's driving a pickup. Drop the gate and throw them in the back. That's just the epitome of lazy.

Why does he have to be lazy ? Like none of us have ever simply forgotten something in our lives . Not saying it's a excuse but it does happen .

This is what I am thinking as well.

But man it would lead to a big surprise if he/she backs into another vehicle.

I leave my hitch and bars on if I have no intentions to leave the campgrounds. I would not call myself lazy, but my back just does not like it.

A few years back one of the bolts that bars pivot on, was loose, and the bars would move around easily. After a little maintenance the bars stay put again.
