Yes...it will work fine. I run my TV and entertainment center off of a 400W Wagan MSW inverter plugged into the 12VDC TV plug adapter port. True Bliss. I am able to watch TV or movies for many hours (of course, I have twin 27-series deep cycle batteries....but even a single 24 series will get you what you need, at least long enough to do the test you are talking about.) This is typically when we are boondocking. I then recharge the batteries the next day with 7 watt solar panel.
When I am not watching a DVD (ie, when watching OTA from the antenna), I simply plug my TV into the 12VDC port without the inverter. I should mention, my TV is a 22 inch NAXA flat screen LED HDTV from Amazon for less than 200 bucks. The inverter was 40 bucks.....has two 120VAC plug-ins, and two USB ports for charging Ipads, androids, GPS, etc. The TV is 12VDC and includes a 120VAC-to-12VDC adapter and draws 60watts (since the voltage is converted from 120VAC to 12VDC there is no need for PSW inverter). The Entertainment center draws 160 Watts when watching a DVD and has no problems on MSW either. Hope this helps.
