Wimpy microwave.

We full time in our Pinnacle but spend a month or so in a park model this time of year before escaping the tundra in favor of warmer weather. We’ve always wondered why the Furrion microwave takes a while to heat a cup of coffee and rarely completely pops a bag of popcorn. Well, here we are in the park model and WOW it’s not the budget friendly popcorn, it’s the microwave that’s wimpy. We’re still under warranty but I’m thinking it’s not worth our time / effort to have it replaced so I’m adding a replacement microwave / convection oven to my shopping list. Has anyone swapped their Furrion for something better? Do they mount the same as would be in a sticks n bricks home? Any surprises when you removed the Furrion?

We replaced ours due to a lightning strike a few years back. We looked for a household model that was the same width and height at Lowes. The depth is not as critical as it has loads of room in the back. Ours mounted with a few simple mods. The only hitch was the vents that route heat away from the unit.

Ours would shut off due to heat not being properly vented. I installed a 120v muffin fan inside the empty area with a lighted rocker switch on the front panel. When we are cooking something longer than a few minutes we just operate the switch and let the fan run.

It's has worked great for 5 years.

Unless that micro is rated 800 watts it should do the job. Check the voltage at the outlet that supplies the microwave. You could have a poor connection or bad socket.
Or just the cheapest piece of junk that Jayco can foist on the public.
