Winter storage in the Northeast

We bought our first camper this season, an X254 and I'm wondering how people in the Northeast store them over the winter? Originally I planned to keep in our yard but it didn't quite fit where I hoped. I still might be able to make it work but a campground about a half hour away will store it in a grass field for the winter for $300. I'm concerned about not being able to keep tabs on it regularly with all the snow we get up here and also about mice in the grass field. We have a lot of trees in our yard though so it might be safer there though. Any opinions? We're new to this and I'm all ears.

I am in PA. I keep it at a storage facility, outside. I check it on occasion. After big snow or ice events, I typically use a small plastic shovel to clear the roof. Of course you have to be careful to not tear the roof membrane. The RV is not covered. I take the batteries back to my house and store them in climate control on a battery minder.

We are in NJ and use Cube Smart self storage, they have parking spaces for rent for RVs and other large vehicles. When its there I try to stop by ever couple of weeks or so to check on it. Does well there.

Where I live in Wisconsin every county has a county fairgrounds that usually sit dormant during the winter. I pay $6.00 a foot for covered storage in one of their buildings for six months. Several buildings are full of boats, RV's, classic cars and motorcycles all winter long.

I leave it in the yard. Last year I covered it. Never again.

We cover ours with one of the grey colored tarps so that the top and the top half of the sides are covered. This past winter we had to pull snow off from it by carefully using a rubber edged snow rake when the snow got to about 30" deep on it. Inside, I scatter a box of scented dryer sheets inside and in all the compartments. I also put in several of the little Tomcat boxes that have the solid bait in them.

Left it in the driveway with only the A/C covered. Even with all the snow last year I only cleaned the roof off once the snow got to about 36". DW loaded the interior with dryer sheets and we had no critter problems either

I keep mine outside at my house. I keep the cabinets under the sinks open (most likely place mice will come up from) and leave rat zappers near them. I try to peek in once a week to check the zappers. This year no mice until the snow was almost gone.

I'm in Maryland and we kept our pop-up at the house. Destroyed it. Needed to be covered. Keeping this TT at a storage yard and plan on buying a cover for it. We'll see how it goes.

Parked next to my barn/shop year round:
-Plugged in
-Poison ant bait stations planted around the trailer
-Poison mouse bait stations in the barn/shop
-Tarp applied as part of winterizing.

I have been shrinkwrapping ours the last couple years. Seems to work great. Just make sure it's totally dry before wrapping and vent it well on top. I purchased my own shrinkwrapping tools so the upfront cost was about $600, but I don't have to pay anyone to do it every year so the system has probably paid for itself already.

Where did you get the shrink wrapping tools?

I'm in Central NY. The last few years with my TT, I winterized with an air compressor, dryer sheets throughout (they work fantastic!!!!!!) and then I was lucky enough to have a friend that owns a riding are a large enough for quite a few boats rvs and cars. And it was free indoor storage. Now I just upgraded to a North Point Fifth wheel so I'm hoping another friend gets his pole barn up soon so we can park it there.

Start talking to friends, coworkers, family. Call the Fairgrounds and the like, they often store units all winter. Mine is stored about 100 miles from home in a barn with lots of farm cats. No mice issues ever. Costs me $60 all winter. He stores about 12 rigs.

I live in NW PA. We store our TT at an indoor facility that used to be a factory. It is heated, but I still winterize everything just in case.
