Winterizing in California

Curious what others do for winterizing in milder climates such as California? We don't see much near freezing, maybe high 30s. I can think of one year in the past that saw 29 for a couple days. I'm wondering if I need to go all the way with anti-freeze etc.

We store in Fremont. We asked experienced RV'ers in the Bay Area if they winterized. Not one said yes. We have owned a Whitehawk for 2 years, temps got down to about 28 a few nights and we had no problems. A few owners drain the fesh water tanks but most owners believe because tanks are somewhat protected they won't freeze.

We’re a bit north of you (Redding) and get a little colder temps in winter — short stretches of lows in high 20s-low 30s. Last year when we bought our TT, I asked my experienced RV friends and they all said they just drain the tanks and lines. I’ll do that, blow out the lines, and put some AF in the P traps for good measure. We recently camped up near Mt. Shasta and had no problems with lows hitting 31 at night.

Gilroy here, I've seen temps in the mid 20's and checked the inside of the TT with the BBQ thermometer that lives in the TT and it didn't reach freezing. Outside covered with a pole barn.

I have no idea so this thread is awesome. I am planning on blowing out the lines and then some antifreeze in the traps, should not get that cold here but cheap insurance.

I am not winterizing as I am using the trailer each month. Currently in Pfeiffer Big Sur. Happy camping!

Before I would winterize in Gilroy I would run the heater a bit, easier than winterizing for the few times the temperature might dip into the freezing zone.

Yes, we went over to Trinidad last February for a week. Hate these dry winters but that’s one benefit at least. Enjoy Big Sur!

Thanks for the good info everyone! I think I do what the general consensus is and blow out the lines, maybe a little antifreeze in the traps.

Looks like we'll be using the TT almost monthly, so not too concerned.

I also live in northern CA and have never 'winterized' my trailer, never had a problem.

Checking in with my fellow Nor Cal Jayco Owners! Such an awesome thread, following all your leads and blowing air though lines and AF in traps. The HTT is stored in Livermore!

Thanks all!

Old thread, but howdy! Don’t forget to drain your water heater, too. And the outdoor shower.
