Winterizing - Waste Tank Findings

I winterized my HTT Sunday, after we got home from camping, and thinking I did a good job draining the waste tanks while at the CG. There was a line behind me as I dumped, and I would have liked to have stayed a few minutes longer, but I was sure the tanks was just dribbling.

I always blow out my lines before pumping in antifreeze. This year, I decided to drain the black and grey tank afterwards. Never done this in the past. I had an old pail that I was going to recycle, so I put it under the drain an pulled the black tank valve. I got maybe ¾ cup of fluid. Not bad. Pulled the grey water tank valve, and I would guess 3.5-4 gallons of grey water came out of the tank. That is about 10% of my tank volume. Antifreeze would have been highly diluted at this rate.

In the past, I have never had any issues with the tank, but that seams like a lot of residue water. I just wonder if I did I do a poor job draining the tank this year, or was this typical amount sitting in the tank after dumping.

When my grey water tank is drained empty, It is empty.
Unlike the black tank..... a poo pyramid can be deceiving and make you think the tank is empty. That is why I fill it several times when emptying the black tank.

Might have been as simple as the angle that your RV was at when you dumped at the CG vs at the house. That amount of water would have diluted the AF but not to the extent where any damage would have been done IMO.
