Yes Another SMH Im Sorry in Advance

i have spent several hours already looking and "researching" and still am not 100% certain. Money is tight, my father has a Honda 2000 (one you can "link") to another 2000 to make a 4000. My wife wants to camp at PINS (Padre Island National Seashore) and i want to make sure we can do it. Costco has what looks to be a great deal on a Generac GP8000E for $750. I am not 100% sold on it as i was when i was at first due to size/weight and noise level. What exactly do i need to use the Hondas?

I have the same Honda EU2000's. You need a parallel cable kit to enable 4K to run your AC. 1 alone can run your Microwave but I wouldn't use the Eco throttle at that time. Camping World sells them, Amazon and many on line retailers

Manufacturer Part Number: 08E93-HPK123HI

Good luck

Be sure to check out the Generator RUN TIME restrictions in place at PADRE Islands...

Alot of the public places we go to including our local Natl Forest areas all seem to have them in place and you are only allowed to run a generator usually from 8-10AM and then again from 4-7PM. The Natl Forest areas here allows the approved type generators from 8AM to 8PM is some areas... Never found a public place where they were allowed after 8PM at night... That doesn't give you much time to use some of those high wattage items on your trailer.

Never camped at Padre Isl but something you should probably check on...

Thanks, Yeah already done that research.

Do not run generators between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

As of right now im leaning to holding off on purchasing the Generac GP800E from costco and saving for the Honda. We are planning on going for Columbus day weekend(fishing should be great). Should be cooled down enough by then at night with the windows open to have a nice breeze and sleep comfortably. but if all goes well will start to go more often in the warmer months.

Hondas are fantastic but the price point is high. I purchased two Champion 2000 with the parallel package and USB charge for half the price. Sound level is similar but size is slightly larger. They stack nice and not as desirable to the "helping hands" that often walk away with the smaller red Hondas.

I have the same generator, but only one. We don't boondock but there is no power where we store our camper so I use it to slide the slides etc. Quiet as a church mouse, 47lbs and no problems to date. Got mine at Menards for $499 on sale.

Pretty loud though? Not going to make many friends at the CG running that thing. Unless you're dispersed or at a place (like a race track) where everyone's running them.

It would still probably work for most of what I would need one for though ...

Camper bob is correct. The cheaper generators are loud. There are many inverter gens on the market and they are very quiet, albeit more cash to purchase. Yamaha, Champion and Honda come to mind. We ended up with the Honda 3000is and it will power everything in our camper while running very quiet. The unit is heavy (about 130 pounds) so we leave it in the bed of the truck during camping season and have a 30 amp extension cord.

Thank you all for the advice. Purchased a Champion
3650W/4500W Generator for use on the beach. As i am new to generators can anyone tell me what the hose is that goes into the top of the gas tank?

I own a Champion 4000/3500. It powered the a/c on our (former trailer) 18' Sportsmen no problem. Our power was out at house for 3 days after the Memorial Day 2015 flood and we just cranked up the Champion and stayed nin the trailer until power was restored. Sold the Sportsmen and now we have a Jayco 22FB. I tried the generator at home a few weeks ago and the a/c would not start - just bogged down when I turned it on, so I quickly shut it off. Not sure why the generator would not work for the new one - any advice? I have decided to buy one of the Champion 2800 Invertor generators soon and sell the 4000/3500.

Concerning noise at the beach - It seems a bit odd to me that generators would be restricted on Padre Island. I wonder what the decibel reading is on the sound of the waves and wind? We always spend our time on Mustang Island in the Port Aransas area (north of Padre Island) where you can drive out on the beach. The surf "noise" seems to drown out most of man-made noise...can't say that noise of any kind has ever bothered us out there! We love it!

I agree that the noise should not matter out there on the beach. And most of that space out on the beach between the the National Seashore and Port Aransas is pretty unregulated. But the Padre Island National Seashore park actually has improved RV spaces. Now, granted, it's just a large parking lot, and it IS just behind the dunes, so the sounds of the wind and surf will likely drown out any generator sounds, but it is a park, and the rules are the rules (whatever they are).

If the dunes offer enough shelter to block the sound of the wind, then I would hate to be the one keeping my neighbors from enjoying the gentle sounds of the surf with my contractor-grade generator rattling away all the time.

Out on the beach itself? Dispersed camping? That's another matter entirely.

Yeah we will be camping on the beach with as much distance (several hundred yards between campers) as possible, depending on beach driving conditions. Nothing is allowed beyond the dunes besides foot traffic so will place generator between Trailer and dunes with muffler facing dunes. Used the Generator on the trailer already and ran everything fine (did not try the microwave yet) High AC in 90+ temps no issues so far.
