1st TT, two weeks & 5K miles later

Hey All,
As stated, bought a used 2015 Jay Flight 26-BH on 16 Dec and on 19 Dec headed out on a trip from Seattle to San Antonio and back. I'm back to tell the tale and will post my adventure in the TT section.

*Towing a new trailer, within days of purchase, across the nation, over snow covered mountains, in below freezing temps, with limited knowledge of how a TT operates, is not recommended (especially if your are inexperienced at towing). I had my reasons, and I can assure you that none of them warranted the risk I put myself and my family in. I will post a detailed "lessons learned" and hopefully get some great advise from Jayco owners in this forum.

Let me guess! Frozen water lines? Stuck going up hill or slid into soft ground next to lane. Too tight a turn and again stuck in soft ground. Stuck stuck stuck and you fill in the reasons. Ran out of fuel due to reduced milage while towing. Dead battery from running the furnace all night and maybe leaving the TV attached so you killed the TV battery too. There are many others but those are the most likely. Even veteran RVers face some of these when we let down our guards and don't think before we tow.

Sounds like you made it home. Hopefully with little or no damage.

I like stories like yours with happy(?) endings. I'm looking forward to learning more about your experience *.

I love unedited stories, warts and all.

Look forward to hearing how your trip to the Lone Star State went.

If my math is correct that's 357 miles a day. Can't Waite to hear what your reason was. My DW would have jumped ship by day 3 on this type of travel plan.

Looking forward to your "lessons learned". I have towed a boat many of times with ease however, I quickly found towing our new TT home that it was a completely different feel / monster to tame.

No it's not!,if he left from Olympia, wa. on I-5 and headed south mid December he had snow ice and fog from Oregon to past Redding, Ca. many grades are 6%-7% both up and down and twisting.

If he headed east over the Cascades he had snow that stopped traffic in both directions ( chains required) for many hours. Then he had the Continental Devide that he had to live through with winter conditions.

I've had to deal with this for over 20 years now and know first hand it's no 6 hours in mid December !!!

Anybody?
