2018 Jayco Jayflight 287BHS

Hello, we are newbies to owning travel trailers and just purchased the above trailer back in November. There is a lovely entertainment section in our new trailer. When contacting Jayco they informed us it's not meant for a tv, even though all the wires and plugs are there. Can anyone who owns this trailer let us know how you solved this problem? The area cannot be seen from the couch and according to Jayco, you cannot install a mount there. I don't want to move my tv back and forth to a table every day. Suggestions? There is no plywood, it is only the wall and it's flimsy.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new 287BHS. I’m a bit confused about the TV, because one of the Jayco options for that trailer is a 32” TV. If you get that option with the trailer, where is the TV supposed to sit?

Thank you, everyone, we really enjoy it, though the last week has been tough with the weather. We have to replace the faucet.

I think it might be that it’s a SLX and not the regular Jayco. You might want to add that to your Title? The SLX is a step down from the regular Jayco. I just looked at the website and they do not show a TV on the model. I would think if the entertainment center could support a mounted tv it would be on the websites 360* tour??
It looks like you can put a tv STAND there on top of the shelf but not on the wall?
My 27BHS has little “red x’s” on different walls that indicate a tv mount can be added. I didn’t see any of those on the 360* tour

With my 2017 287 there is wood behind the entertainment center it's not much but I was able to mount my tv with no issues. I thing I used 3/4" bolts to mount but I took the point off the end so they would not poke through the other side. It is a fixed mount and I can see the tv from every seat except the from the right seat on the couch. Sorry I don't have better pictures, the slideout was in the way.

Another TT newbie here, We just took delivery of our 2018 Jay Flight SLX 287BHS last Saturday and there is a 32 inch TV mounted on an articulating swivel bracket in that entertainment center. You can pull it out and adjust it up/down & side to side. I'm not sure why Jayco told you no TV because ours came that way from the factory that way. So to answer your question, yes it you can put a TV in there.

Just took delivery of our 2018 287bhs two days ago and had the same question. Another thread mentioned that they just bolted the tv down in that area using the stand that came with the tv. I think we will be going with that same route, maybe adding a strap at the top for a little bit extra security. It’s not like they weigh much these days.

I just picked up my SLX 287BHS yesterday. Parts told me that there is a 1/2 inch plywood mounted between the studs in the entertainment unit, but it might not be easy to notice with knocking on the panel.

So, I am still going to add a 3/4 inch plywood on the front of the panel for a extra strength. I will screw it in using 1 1/4 inch wood screws. I'll use about 12 if them I guess. Even if there isn't anything back there, all those screws should be enough to hold the weight.

We just picked up a 2017 Jayflight SLX 287BHSW and the service tech said that there was plywood behind the entertainment centre for mounting a TV mount. He said it depends on the thickness of your mount, but he always uses 5/8 screws and has never had a problem. I mounted ours and it works fine.
