Advice on purchase

Looking at 2012 Jay Flight Swift SLX 154 BH only used about 6 times, excellent condition for $7000.00 or 2015 Jay Flight SLX 154BH brand new for 9,400.00.
Looking for reasons to choose one over the other. New to the site and this will be our first trailer. Retired couple wanting to stretch our legs. Have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee with towing pkg
Appreciate any input.

Buy the new one, the 2 year warranty is worth it to me.

I would agree - our 195RB is our first trailer and I thought about used as well. Decided the 2 year warranty was to my advantage as it provides time for me to get up to speed on everything before I reach a point where I can choose whether I want to repair something myself as opposed to paying a dealer.

I say go with the new if you can swing it. Offer $9K and see what happens. Warranty, as Loboclone mentioned, is a huge plus. And if you're financing it, it's really not that much more and you get a camper that no one else has slept in. Even if you're not financing, it may be the better deal.

If you know how to inspect for problems, go used. $2,400 gives you a lot of extra for repair jobs. Warranty is only useful if your dealer is close, has room to get you in quick, and is willing to do warranty work. Not to mention you have room to negotiate the price more on used.

On a side note regarding financing. $2,400 is still $2,400 if you pay it cash all at once or finance out for 30 years. Not to mention finance charges.

Our first TT was a 2012 Jay Feather that was only used four times before the owner was diagnosed with cancer. It was a great intro to RV trailer for us and it too was in perfect condition. If you can save a few $$, go used.

Welcome to the forum. If I recall correctly there were some issues reported here on the forum with the earlier Swift 154`s having some AC and refrigerator issues. For the price difference I think I would go new.....

On edit:
After a search actually it was the 185 having those issues. But I would still go new.

I'm firmly in the used camp -- the warranty is nice, but not worth $2400 to me. You can fix a lot of stuff on a TT for $2400.

It's the end of camping season and both party's will be stuck for another long winter with there campers. The dealer will probably go much lower for his as he will be stuck paying finance charges of his own. Offer them $8,500 and see what he says likewise I would offer the private party around $6,000 for there's we purchased a 2006 Jay flight in 2010 half as much as new and it has had no major issues.

In my book never new. You drive it off the lot and it's worth how much less. I bought used and saved big over new. Everything I found wrong was cosmetic even, the fading front cap, looks bad but the working stuff functions as it should. First owner may have worked out any bugs before I bought, my gain.
