Alaskans Spending the Year South

My Wife and I decided to take a year off and check out the lower 48 states. We don't plan to hit them all, but we will hit a lot of National Parks and such.

We bought a Jayflight 23MB in Washington two weeks ago. We're getting use to trailer life.

Our truck is a bit wimpy, a Ram 1500 with a 4.7L. I would get a bigger one, but I have a life time warranty on power train. We are well under all the limits, we kept the total weight to just under 5,000. Weighed at a weigh station, 4970.

Back home we usually travel in our little airplane, so we are used to packing light.

Lots to still figure out.

A YEAR OFF!!! I'm sooo jealous but I'm sure you deserve every day of it and more. Do tell us where your headed because I'm sure we'll be happy to share our favorite locations.

If you guys head east toward MI, make sure you solicite this group. Lots of us here and there is lots of beautiful things to see around the Great Lakes that most out of staters don't know about.

Welcome! I assume you have 4-wheel drive?
