Another from Michigan
Hello all,
Just another PuP owner from Michigan, since the local shows we have been real interested on pulling the trigger on an X23B. Were still in the research and discussion stages but so far the X23B is winning hands down. Curious though if any of the X23B owners could answer a few questions.
1. Am I correct that both the 2013 and 2014 do not have ducted A/C and does it still take cool enough in our sometimes balmy Michigan summers? ( I have Reflectix which would carry over from our PuP).
2. Is the awning lighted? I swear at the show it had led's on it like other models but now I can't be sure. When I asked a salesperson today they told me "No".
I'm sure i'll have more later but so far I've spent several hours researching on here today alone.

My 23B is a 2006 so I can't answer the questions about ducts or awning lights. But I can tell you using reflectix in the tent ends and in the tent widows will absolutely keep you cool with a non-ducted air conditioner. I live in PA and we have had to dial back the air conditioner in 90+ degree weather here. Also we went to this unit after a pup and absolutely love it.

Thanks Crex, Absolutely, the Reflextix is a no brainer after having a pup. Such a huge difference on the bunk temps.

We got our 2014 back in June from a local General RV and also in Michigan down by DTE. Happy to answer any questions.
1. No ducted AC. We took it out this summer, which was a bit mild, and managed to keep cool just fine. The hottest day we did shut the curtains on the bunk ends and just keep the mid section cool. We got the PUGs half way through the year which helped, but the side walls need treatment next year. The trouble is that those bunk ends are such a source of light I hate covering/closing them. In exchange for the heat though I guess it's a fair trade off.
2. Ours has an LED band on the top of the wall next to the awning. Love it. Lights up great.

for an action shot.
Things to watch out for, make sure to get a fantastic fan in the bathroom. That fan is the key to pulling air through the thing and bigger == better. We also have the bunk end fans, which we use some, but are loud buzzing together with the fantastic fan on high. They do work well though to pull cool air from the main body of the camper into the bunk ends if you're AC'ing it up.

Thanks mitechie,
We just looked at one at a General RV down here in Mt. Clemens and I was told it doesn't have a light. Do you remember if it was an option? From what I can tell on the Jayco website it is part of the power package with the power tongue jack on a 2014 model. So i'm assuming that if it has a power tongue, it should have the led strip for the awning.

I guess I can't say 100%. I went in to buy a 2013 but the day I went in to sign the papers on it they had a 2014 sitting there just arrived and it had it. I had wanted the power tongue jack and power awning so it was less add-on work to do to the 2014 to get it ready.
I mean there's a switch on the wall for the light, tell him to go turn it on! Maybe they don't realize it's LED and think it has no awning light? I mean, that'd really be depressing of the dealer to tell you there's no light at all because they're not up to date on their product. Does any trailer really come with no light? I'd bed he's just not realized that little bar up next to the awning IS the light. He's looking for a fixture to put a bulb into perhaps? It could be easy to miss if you weren't looking for it.

Excellent. Thanks again. I didn't even think to look up there after he said "no". I just looked back at the pics I took of the trailer and it's got to be hidden up there. I'll have to go back and look again this week.
Thanks again,
Tony

Congrats mandalawi. I know we're eagerly awaiting spring to break ours out of storage. It's a great trailer and set up for good times. :-)

WE JUST brought our new X23 home last night. We didn't even know there were awning lights. After we unhooked from our truck we went in to look at everything, switched on the lights, and BOOM! Excellent looking BRIGHT strip of LED across the awning. One switch turned on the interior lights, the other switched the awning lights on. (Our very first TT so we didn't even know enough to ask if there were awning lights!

Enjoy exploring the features of your new X23. It's a nice unit with a good floor plan.
