Another newbie in the group
Hi, my husband (Steve) and I (Katie) have been talking about getting and looking for a trailer for a long time. Yesterday we finally purchased our first one. We got the Jayco x17z. Pick up will be sometime next week. We're quite excited but there is a lot to learn!
Anyway, we will be venturing out from the Half Moon Bay, CA area. We have two boys (15,20) and an old dog who will be traveling with us most of the time, at least for awhile yet. We've been doing the tent thing for years, but I just wasn't into it anymore. We are looking forward to this next step. We are excited to find this group because I'm sure we are going to have lots of questions!

Welcome to the forum. Some great people here with some great information. We are out of Milpitas so if you want some ideas for short trips etc. let us know. On "high traffic" days suggest you go down 1 to 280 instead of heading out over 92. The hairpin turns on the west side can be challenging with the crazy drivers. Have seen multiple trailer incidents over the years. There is only one "truck/lane turnout."

Welcome to the forum. If you are into learning about RV'ing and how things work on the RV, you've come to the right place! When I first joined up, I read "New Posts" daily for 6 months and learned of all the issues (both major and minor) that you may have. Plus I learned all about using the search function for specific information on various postings and issues I had.
I'm sure you'll enjoy RV'ing much better than tenting. Even a lumpy mattress is better than the cold hard ground...especially as we get older!
Enjoy and Good Camping! Jim

I’m also brand new to this group, and do not even own a Jayco product yet. We are downsizing from a 40’ Diesel Tiffin Phaeton and seriously considering one of the Greyhawks, as we like the floor plans.
I haven’t figured out how to ask questions yet, but one of my primary concerns is SLIDES!! Are there any particular slide issues with Jayco slides on the Class C’s? I’ve had 2 Winnebagos (2015 Class C and 2016 Class A) that had serious problems, and my current Tiffin has sporadic issues, but only failed once, luckily in the closed position.
I’ve had the E450 chassis on two other Class C’s and loved it for power, reliability, and ease of maintenance, but the big box on the back is usually full of issues-LOL
Thanks for any input. We plan on purchasing a 2018 model within the next couple of weeks.

Congratulations. My wife and I have been fulltiming for 15 years and still not ready for brick n mortar again. But did you do a dry run in your driveway before heading out? We haven’t met an rv owner yet who had a perfect rv right out if the box. Also, hope you are married to a handyman. Make sure he brings his tool box. These rigs experience 7.2 earthquakes as they bounce down the road. Whenever we get to a campground we now expect to find some things that have worked loose or are just plain broken! Still...the adventures and surprises are worth every stress. Oh yeah, take your patience and your sense of humor. Good time to teach your boys about backups and plan B options!😃
