Camping In Central Iowa!

Hello everyone, we're glad to be here. This forum really helped answer a lot of questions we had when researching a new travel trailer.

My wife and I just purchased a 2015 Jay Flight 267BHSW. Her parents have an older travel trailer, my parents have a 2014 32' Jay Flight, it was time to get our own. We researched many different brands/models, and ultimately came back to Jayco because of the quality of construction and overall value for the money. No pictures yet, we pick it up next week.

Our 6-year-old daughter has already claimed the top bunk for herself, our 9-year-old puggle will enjoy the camper too.

List of mods/additions right away: TV, upgrade stereo (one with DVD and Bluetooth, either with a Jensen that comes in the upgraded models, or just a standard car dvd), upgrade speakers and add some outside, possible thermostat upgrade.

My truck is a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 5.3L with 3.42 gears. It's currently tuned by Black Bear Performance so I know I won't have any issues pulling this. My rear leaf springs have been shot for a few years, just got replacements that I will be installing this weekend. I also picked up some CIPA 10800 tow mirrors and a Curt 17500 TruTrack WDH w/ sway control.

Still researching the other items that we may need: build a bunk ladder, leveling blocks, wheel chocks and covers, vent covers, etc (please feel free to give suggestions!)

Again, happy to be here! Happy Camping!!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I also have a Black Bear tune and love what is did for my 6.0.

Nice list to start..I'd add a better sewer hose that the generic one the dealer may give you. Also pick up a 50A to 30A dog bone adapter for those times when the CG 30A outlet is well worn.

CHANGE OF PLANS

The seller where we signed the papers said we weren't getting the camper for 2.5 weeks, when they originally told we'd be getting it this week. This was the 3rd++++ strike against them, we read lots of bad reviews on them online and decided to originally go forward because of the price and it was the Jayco we wanted.

After being lied too repeatedly and never getting our phone calls returned, my wife and I called Saturday morning to cancel our contract (luckily we hadn't paid them the full amount yet), we'll be getting our partial down-payment refunded this week.

We're now looking at a sweet 2016 267BHSW, so we'll be getting one, just don't know where/when yet. Stay tuned...

We have a new fridge! When we bought it, their service techs said they tested everything. Well, the fridge would not get cold on either A/C or gas, we gave it 15 hours and wouldn't drop below 80deg. It would ignite, the vent would get hot, the lines would get hot/cold, but the inside of the fridge would just not cool down.

They sent out a mobile service tech yesterday and brought a brand new fridge with them. Instead of troubleshooting for hours, we just swapped out the fridge (they think the lines could possibly be plugged). I can now make ice cubes and cool the items in my fridge.
