Chillin’ in the Everglades

Hello all, new forum member here just introducing myself. I’ve got a 2020 Eagle HT 28.5RSTS that is my permanent “fish camp” located at a waterfront rv park & marina on the tiny island of Chokoloskee, FL. She is blocked & not moving unless a hurricane wipes her out. I just poured a 10x30’ slab next to her & having a free standing lanai built this fall with full skirting. This is my second Jayco, my first one was a 2015 Jayflight 23MB which was an upgrade from a 1988 16’ Scotty. Anyone here a fishing enthusiast like me?

Wow.! Shows how much I know about the Everglades. I just figured it was hot and humid all the time even in January

Usually it is around 70-80 for highs and 55-60 for lows. Humid most of the time. Hot sometimes.. You are not entirely wrong. We bring fleece AND light clothing!

Oh . there are ever present bugs.

I love Chokoloskee Island.. Havana Grill... Irma was sufficient.

I live to fish and I'm very envious of your setup.

Thanks, nice to meet ya’ll!
It gets a little chilly down here but rarely below 40degrees. Being a FL native I’m accustomed to the extreme summer heat. Fishing is best when it’s warmer, for sure! Aside from fishing, I do a lot of exploring the 10,000 Islands on my skiff….

Watson Place Chickee.. with a wind and ice in my coffeecup! And three days hunkered on Hog Key.

Not a fisherperson but did catch a snook. It jumped in my canoe. Does that count?

So sad the beating Irma gave your area. She was not Irma la Douce..

I’ve camped pretty much all the chikees in the Glades. Great times. Hog key is nice too but beach camping isnt my preference.
Thats considered a boated snook, not caught
The Glades has largely recovered from hurricane Irma. It definitely created a lot of new fishing holes!

Welcome Aboard!

Love to fish, Don't get to do it as much as I use to. That evil 4 letter word "Work", keeps getting in the way. Got out three times one weekend and it was horrid fishing,. Maybe two "nibbles" over many hours. I think it could have been a little debris in the river current. Been really hot early, not much rain and the water levels are way down
