First-time Owner Check'n In
First off, Thanks for this great site!
Second, I'm a first-time pop-up camper owner of a 1997 Jayco 1207 KB. It's a bit bigger than I wanted for a first camper but there's a story as to why I chose this one.
Basically, I started with a $7 snowboard I purchased from Goodwill. While the snowboard had never been used, it was about $10 years old. I spent about 3 months trolling Craigslist trying to make a deal to trade it for a used scooter. Had many "almost" deals but nothing every worked out until I received a Yes from a young boy. He had a used 1984 Honda Areo 125cc scooter that was not working and in fact was missing many very important parts. I made the trade and spent about 4 months searching for the missing parts and restoring the scooter. Then came the need to find a title for it as he did not have one. I managed to register the scooter in Vermont which gave me the paperwork I could use to title it in Maryland. That was last year. I had 4 motorcycles and with my wife not appreciating vintage bikes I decided to attempt a trade of the scooter for a camper. And I made the trade this past week and so here I am!
I wasn't expecting anything perfect which is what I got. There's some issues with the roof leaking and the canvas/vinyl on one of the tents that has cracks. So, I have a little bit of work cut out for me.
Perhaps I'll "trade again" and end up with something a little smaller. I really would have liked something around a 2-4 person camper. I expect it mostly to be just my wife and me so this camper is a bit of an overkill. So, I'll spend some time fixing it up and try another trade.
Paul
