First-time pop-up owner
Hello Jayco Owners!
I want to say hello and introduce myself! My name is Stephen and my Wife and I recently(last Thursday) purchased a 2000 Qwest 8U on a whim. Its PO hadn't used it in over two years and it definitely had some water damage on the rear road-side corner and rear panel. I'm new to owning a pop-up but not new to camping in one or camping with a tent. My Wife and two girls needed something a bit more roomie than a 6-man tent, so figured why not? We got it home and started cleaning it up and compiling a list of what needs to be replaced/repaired. Thankfully the three big ones weren't too bad: repair the water damage, rewire/replace the clearance and tail lights, patch the large hole in the door-side rear corner canvas at the bunk end. On Sunday, I repaired the water damage, now to rewire and update the clearance and tail lights. The Wife is thankfully handy with a needle and thread to repair the hole for now. Phew, enough rambling, glad to be here and excited to learn more and get help when needed!

Welcome to the group! Enjoy the pop up. Like you we tent camped for many years and then had our two girls and a tent wasn’t working anymore. We used a pop up for a few years and then upgraded to a travel trailer. If the canvas becomes too much of an issue Bear Creek Canvas is a great company for better than stock replacement canvas. Make sure the tires aren’t outdated and don’t drive too fast, those small tires like to overheat and blowout. Mouse proof it quickly. A couple mice in a pop up making nests out of your canvas will ruin your day if not your camper.
Enough advice, I’m sure you’ve been Googling your brains out already!

X2 on the mouse proofing! They ate holes in our canvas and made a mess. My wife recovered the bunks and seat cushions with new foam which made them a lot more comfortable.
Consider adding your tow vehicle and the trailer info to your signature.
By the way, those tiny tires need to be perfectly inflated, keep your wheel bearings greased and check the brakes. Surge brakes need maintenance too.

Thanks! Going to get two new wheels/tires to replace the existing wheels and keep the best original (one of them looks fairly new). Need to get a spare tire cover for it. My Wife had to remind me to slow up towing it home with the Legacy.
