First time Pop Up owners in Hampton Roads VA!

Hey RV'ers! We just brought home our new(to us) Pop-Up! Its a 2002 10v Qwest, and while it has been ridden hard (was a rental before the previous owners got it), it is campable now, and most work will be cosmetic. Everything cranks up fine, lights work..dont pat attention to the duct tape holding them on hehe-and it is very light while empty. We got a great deal on it, and if it was in any better shape it could have fetched 3 or 4 times what we paid for it.

Me and my fiance are stoked, as we have been sleeping on the the ground in tents our entire lives, so while this camper has some "character" it is the Taj Mahal to us. Can't wait to dive into these forum pages, and pimping, err.. cleaning up our new home away from home!

Thanks for the great welcome mat everyone! I see many time consuming sessions cruising these boards.
Hey Crabman, I have not. We have spent the majority of our time camping the state campgrounds in the Outer Banks. I've tent camped Ed Allen's on Chickahominy Lake, Shenandoah River Outfitters, Goshen Pass and a couple other non-beach sites, but mostly stuff near the beach. I have a close friend that recommended Chippokes, and we would really like to see it this year. We plan on christening "Bessie" at Newport News Park, just to get a quick run in the next couple weeks(and to get my 5year old's first camping trip under her belt). After that it will be either Chippokes or somewhere else we haven't camped yet. Still plan on camping in Hatteras a bunch, but with the new accommodations we want to really stretch our camping legs. Maybe Natural Bridge or Crabtree Falls will be our first "big trip" with the pup... but perhaps a couple nights on the Blue Ridge Pkwy isn't out of the question either

Welcome aboard... We haven't done too much in your neck of the woods but guess Westmoreland State Park is our home camp ground.

We love the LOFT MTN camp spot on Skyline Drive and Sherando Lake. Have done some sitting up on the VA/WVA wooded state line off a George Washington forest road behind Harrisonburg VA.

We love to go to Gatlingburg TN area and the Smoky Mtns... Done alot of camping there in our POPUP...

Most places we go to don't have hookups so we had to make the camper survive camping off the power grids. You have to do some planning to make that work successful for you...

We have made the Blue Ridge Parkway run from VA to the Smokey Mtns once with tent camping and once with the POPUP. Enjoyed the tent camping the best haha... There is a camp site every 50 miles down the parkway...

Welcome aboard and enjoy your POPUP... We have pulled ours all over VA, East coast, gulf states, and as far West as Okla and Texas. Our best sites are all of the high ground in the VA-NC-SC-TN-GA-ALA... Still got a few more to go see in these areas. Cloudland Canyon ranks very high among them. Cheaha in ALA was great also until everyone else found it...

King George area....
