First Time Travel Trailer Owner

We just moved up from our Coleman Popup to a brand new Whitehawk 27DSRL purchased at the RV Show. Picked it up this weekend in the pouring rain. It was difficult to do a thorough PDI in the heavy rains, but we did the best we could, though not completely done (none of the water systems were checked). Successfully towed it home without any mishaps, though I had a heck of time getting it properly positioned in my driveway. Not perfectly placed, but close enough for the first time. The tech giving us our inspection managed to pop the electric jack fuse when he demonstrated how to use it at Camping World. He raised the jack to its highest position until it stopped moving. I did not realize the fuse had blown until I tried to lower the jack in the rain in my driveway. Several calls to Camping World later and a trip to the auto supply store for 30 amp fuses finally got the jack lowered. Of course, I blew a couple 30 amp fuses myself because "down" on the jack does not mean the jack stand moves "down," it means the tongue moves down. I had to reorient my perception. All is well. Hoping the rain ends soon, so I can explore my new toy more!

Sounds very similar to our situation! We just upgraded from a Coleman pop-up that we had for 11 years to our first travel trailer, a 2016 Jay Flight 26BH Elite that we ordered and picked up about a month ago. During the PDI, the technician blew the 30A fuse on the tongue jack, I asked if I could have a couple extra fuses "just in case". Sure enough, I blew two fuses unhooking because the up / down buttons are the tongue, not the jack like you said. The worst part is the TT takes up the entire length of one spot in our driveway, so my truck was 3/4 of the way across the road the whole time. Fortunately it's a side road and there was not too much traffic!!! Guess you know I'll be getting a good supply of 30A fuses. Might even do the circuit breaker mod. We'll see how it goes. I'm sure I'll get used to it as well, but don't want to resort to the back up hand crank if I don't have to when my truck is blocking the road. We also can't wait for spring to come so we can use our new toy.

Anyway, congrats and enjoy!!

First thing i did to my power jack was flipped the switch so up brings the jack up and down bringS it down, not tongue up/down like it came.

Welcome. We have the same unit and love it. You'll get used to the jack. I've only blown one fuse so far. I have two sets of blocks that I use under the jack. I don't always need both but they are nice to have. One is 3- 2x6s and the other is 3- 2x8s nailed together. They also cut down on the time it takes to move the jack down.
