first timers from Louisiana

We will be picking up our new 2014 Jayflight 238RB on June 3rd. We , Janet and I, are both recently retired and are looking forward to traveling and meeting some new friends. I have owned a few sail boats so am familiar with some of the systems but the learning curve is quite daunting. We have a couple of state parks close by so they will be our first outings. Plan to go to Mountainview, Arkansas in August as we have friends that have a home base there with full hookups. Sorry for the windy post, guess I am excited about this new adventure. Really enjoy this site and the friendly atmosphere.

Steve and Janet

Thanks all for the welcome,
Jtownstumpjumper, I have been going to Mountainview since the 70's , have enjoyed playing music on the square , and the Folk Center. A little more hectic these days but still fun .

Welcome to JOF and congrats on your purchase! I would suggest a camp driveway or camp backyard for a night to get used to the camper and it's systems. A notebook is your friend when you go camping, keep track of things you forgot and things to remember. Remember that there is usually always a Walmart of some sorts around if you really need something you forgot. Otherwise sit back and enjoy...

Thanks again, we will surely do the at home campouts a few times to get used to the unit and the systems. I have pulled large stock trailers and some heavy equipment so I am hoping for no surprises with our new home away from home. The knowledge and experience of everyone on this site has already been a great help to us.

Picked her up today and she pulls like a breeze. Got her hooked up in the drive and will start going over the systems in the morning. We have a great local dealer here and the whole experience so far has been enjoyable. We are headed to a local state park next week for our maiden voyage and then to Arkansas later in the summer. The first real trip will be to Savannah early fall. Thanks for all the tips and have a wonderful summer.
