First travel trailer.. Jay feather 165

Well just got home with our 2009 Jay Feather. Got what I think was a good deal, paid just over $4000 for it. It was a repo, it looks like it never was used at all, no scratches or dings, not even a sign of usage to any of the appliances. Anyways, needless to say I am very excited.

I towed it from the western side of Michigan to the eastern side, other than being a little nervous everything went well. ( I wasn't expecting such bad gas mileage) But I definately need to upgrade my Gmc Safari for regular pulls.

Upgrades will include new sway bars, rear helper springs, a trimbren kit, trans cooler and a brake controller.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the brake controller, what would be a good choice for a 1998 GMC Safari SLX (4.3 with automatic trans) where could I get it installed in the Detroit area.

Also need to wire up a 7 prong plug.

I just need someone or somewhere to do the controller and plug....... any help appreciated...

Picture coming soon...
Thanks for the help, Richard:lizard:

You definitely got a great deal! Congrats..
I can't answer the brake controller.. but just wanted to say that now matter what size trailer we have had, and what tow vehicle.. we usually get between 9-12 miles per gallon.

Welcome to the forum shroomtrippin and congrats om your Jay Feather. You did good, real good! For brake control google Tekonsha, a Prodigy is well respected.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum. Tecknosha is a good controller and just about any automotive shop or dealership should be able to install one.
