From Just Looking to Just Purchasing

We went from "maybe we should get an RV" in December 2017, to going to the Fort Worth RV show in January 2018, to thinking "we'll buy one next January", to getting hooked on Youtube channels all summer, to "as long as we're at the dealer, we'll take it" in September. Bought our first rig - a 2018 Jayflight 24RBS (The "Tiki Room").
I had never been RVing in my life, and am now totally hooked. My wife and I have taken out the trailer for 6 weekend trips so far, and have a month long trip planned for this summer. We're doing some mods now and have more planned for the future.

You're done. Hooked

Now you make that mental list of what you like and what you don't like about your current RV over time

And use that to shop for the next RV!

We think we want to go bigger as we have big feet. Wider for sure. Not crazy about slides but have to have entry access to the bathroom for travels across the West. Sometimes lunch and bathroom needs hit in the middle of nowhere. Access all around to the bed.

A TV visible from living area and bed. A separate sofa apart from dinette area.
Counter space in the kitchen. I am appalled at the fact that bigger units dont always have more room there than my little single axle RV.

The ability to pass in the aisle butt to butt.

You are just starting. You will make your own "next" list.

Congratulations and I'm sorry. The whole RV lifestyle can be the greatest thing to happen to you, but not always! Luckily you already found the best place to ask all your questions. My rule of thumb is to ask a million questions and don't worry about looking silly. You look sillier when you don't ask . . . .

Totally Hooked

Thanks everyone! We were buying "stuff" for months before we bought the rig. Doing lots of little mods - I'm lousy at pictures, but working on it and will get some stuff posted.

Did the basics - replacing shower head, bathroom faucet, adding shelving to most of the cabinets to double my storage. Adding touch LED lights in the storage areas. Added a Wifi extender/4G antenna to the roof. Big project was removing the jacknife sofa and replacing it with two recliners. Have two 30 day trips planned for the beginning and end of summer respectively.

Like others, have dreams of what's next. Would like to go to 28' to have the extra seating area.

We also went from having a 22ft toy hauler in Dec ‘17 to we should get a motorhome, as of May 18, ‘18 we are now the proud owners of a 2018 jayco redhawk 29xk and would like to say i am hooked on the motorhome life already. Is so easy to drive and operate everything to do with it is operator friendly. Two trips and 7 nights already spent camping. Two more trips scheduled in next month and will be a few more between july and Septmber already working on. We figure we will make at least a dozen trips this year still. Life is all better when camping :-)

Welcome and congrats on the new TT.

Your story somewhat echo's our story with the exception that we rented an RV for a long weekend to test the waters before we seriously started looking to buy. We got back from that first trip and my wife's first question was "where are we going next?". That put a smile on my face .

Safe travels.

Gee, this story seems familiar.
Brother & I started camping in Boy Scouts, he continued while I didn't for a long time. Finally the stars aligned, DW's schedule changed so her and my brother had same weekends off and he invited us to go with them for a weekend. Weren't sure if she would like camping since she had never been before. Her next day off we were at a local dealer looking (cough ... cough... buying) a TT. Must be she really liked it.
That was a dozen years, 3 trucks and 2 campers ago.

Happy trails and enjoy

Congrats on the new RV. I hope you and the family making many wonderful memories in it.

My wife and I went through a similar process with one added step, we rented a class C for a long weekend and took a trip to Lake George. The first question she asked when we got back was "where are we going next?". That started us on our 1 year search for the our first TT (KZ E204S) which we enjoyed for six seasons until we traded it in for a Jayco 28RLS.
