From Northern Cali

Hello from Petaluma. I don't own a Jayco yet but am looking at purchasing a fiver this summer. I have pulled bumper pulls for 20 years so I'm not new to RVing. Looking at Eagle HT's to pull with my 2010 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins. We're taking our time and figuring out which floor plan works best for us and probably looking at a bunkhouse.

Welcome to the forum!! An HT is a very nice size for a couples trailer or family that your not full timing in. Your truck will handle it very nicely. The advice I will give you is that they ride better on a 4x4 with 16” wheels. The axle comes flipped in this line, so make sure you get your trailer with the springs in the lower shackle hole if you get the larger wheels. This will raise the trailer and help your bed and tire clearance. There are a few threads in this forum about this, it’s the only mechanical concern I’ve come across with this line. Totally workable and not a reason to not consider the HT. Just get your dealer to insure it’s solved.

After that enjoy, we love ours.

Welcome from a bit south of you! Although, I'm in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa often enough (have family living there).

Thanks for the advise. My truck has 3" springs in front and about 3/4" in the back and sits level on 35 tires on stock 17" wheels. I plan on adding airbags for the added stability but will keep the trailer weight below my max. I have read about using the lower shackle hole. Do they come either way or are they typically in the upper hole from the factory? I will be using a PullRite Superlite 20K so it has some adjustment height wise.

Welcome from a little south of you, the first time we ever used an RV was a rental Jayco at the KOA in Petaluma, loved the place.

The Petaluma KOA is nice. I've never stayed there but I've had dinner there a couple times when family was staying there. We tent camped in the woods for years before buying an RV. We've been RVing in a TT for 20 years now and I have never stayed at a campground with hookups.

It seems to be a mix, they are delivered in either the upper or lower hole. The key point is, if you get the 16” wheel upgrade and the springs are in the upper hole, you will get damage from the tires rubbing in the wheel well. So just insure the springs are in the lower hole with the larger wheels.
