I just returned from a 5 day golf trip around Tahoe, stayed 1/2 up Kingsbury. Two days we played in Genoa...it might be 15 miles to the lake but right now that is one hell of jacked up trip with the grade all torn up.

Question for you -- have camped at "Campground on the Lake"? We are going drag the TT to Tahoe next summer. I think a 5-7 days on both north and south shores. For So. Lake we are debating CG on the Lake or Zephyr Cove. We have made dozens, if not hundreds, of winter trips but never a summer camping trip. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Oh, I know about the plethora of great dispersed sites and no hook-up FS/SP campgrounds around, but for this trip we want on the lake with hookups ... or a very close dump station.

CG on the Lake is smack in the middle of town, right on US Hwy 50, across the street from the lake, both good and bad points, and always full during the summer.
A tad noisy for my tastes.
Zephyr Cove, in my less than humble opinion, is nicer, better lake access, better beach and awesome views. Also going to be rocking in the summer.
Biggest difference being that the party is on at Zephyr Cove during the day and at the CG on the Lake at least folks have to wander off to get their party on. Or bring it with them. CGOTL is more like a FS Campground (run by the city). ZC is more resortish (is that even a word?)
And don't worry what Tunce says, there's nothing going on at Area 51.
